I was hoping some of you who are using the Windows driver for the Graphtec plotter to cut directly from CorelDraw could help me get my cutting area (print area) correct.

I can't seem to figure out how to get my page size set up correctly. I'm not sure if the problem is my setting in the driver, the plotter itself, or the software.

I've monkeyed around and read and re-read the documentation for the driver, the plotter manual and the web site. I'm trying to cut on 15" material.
My text to cut should be nearly the full width of the material, but it's only about 3 inches wide and instead of starting at the edge it rolls the vinyl about 12"!

Also: my vinyl, once it gets started rolling is rolling off the stock rollers into the floor. How come?

I don't have the answers to your plotter question, but wondered if the sales rep, or a tech dept within the company who sold you the plotter will offer you this assistence. I'm sure you will find some knowledgable folks here in regards to these questions, but I really think someone on the phone walking you through every step until your new set-up works perfectly is your best assistence, & I would think that should be provided to you. Free. (although probably not on Sunday [Smile] )

As for the vinyl on the floor, sounds like your rollers are too well lubricated, but I reccomend you manually pull enough off the roll & when the plotter is advancing the vinyl, it is pulling from the pile you created behind the plotter, or draped off the back edge of the table, & not pulling the roll causing it to spin anymore.

Hi Penny
I have my page set for 3000mm by 600mm(2') in the printer settings section for my graphtec 1000. This enables me to cut up to that width and length. If I wanted to cut more than 3m (10 foot) long I would have to reset the settings. In corel, my page size is also 3000mm by 600mm. I set up everything to be cut on the LHS, moving it away from the top and bottom by 1mm. A guideline is set 1mm less than the cuttible vinyl width to indicate how much I can crowd the files to be cut.
For the vinyl spooling through, that initially happened to me. I set mine up to feed from the back of the cutter and no more problems. If cutting long sections 1000mm+ then I check to see if it is tracking OK. and do a preliminary feed through of the vinyl. To line up the vinyl, I have marked a scale on the back of the bench supporting the cutter that corresponds with the scale on the graphtec. Line up the vinyl at the same mark on the cutter as for the bench and it is ready to go. I regularly cut 3 metres but at that length always check alignment, sometimes having to set up the vinyl again or giving it a slight nudge to obtain better alignment.

My first thought is check you percentages - I'm not famalier with your program your running, though, never hurts to have some factory support behind you - have you tried your Sales Rep yet?

Also might check the orientation before you send to cutter - Good Luck, Carl
