I heard a story on the radio that bothered me.
It seems a fellow was hired to do some yodelling for a company called YAHOO. The ywere to use the sounds in their promotions.
But a funny thing happened. The company became very successful and the fellows yodels helped it become so.
He hired a lawyer and sued them... for much more money than the original $590 he recieved at the start. He got it too.
That to me just isn't right. He stated what he wanted to do a job. He did it. They were happy and used the sound to promote themselves.
All of a sudden he want more... greed sets in.
ANd our legal system allowed him to go back for more.
Does that mean my work is worth more than the original fee negotiated if the company I do it for gets rich???
Not right in my eyes.

I know a sign painter who had a customer with a couple little taco stands and he was doing their signs for them. They only had 4 or 5 items on the menu, and he did those on a little board and put a little cartoon "Pancho" leaning against a cactus up at the top - no big deal, just a quick cartoon, which he put on all their signs. One day the owner brings him a waiver to sign so he can get a big company to make him a lighted metal pole sign, and he wants the "Pancho" character on it - they won't do it without a waiver. So, since this was a good customer he signed it off. They also began using the logo on all their advertising because this was when they went national, and my friend never got another nickle out of them. The company? Taco Bell.
They since changed their logo to the bell they now use, but for years it was Ernie's free cartoon.
