Does Fargo still exist. Does anyone have a Fargo Primera in use. If so how do you like it... Found a brand new one for $500.00. Just wondering if it's worth it?

Well, I have one for a doorstop. I used it right until I bought my used Edge 1- and if carefully babied it will produce fine prints on vinyl. Of course there is no print and cut. There is a tremendously high use of foil (same foil as the Edge, wrapped on a larger roll) and I am very serious about the very close attention that you need to pay to the vinyl running in correctly, or it will jam, and ruin it. You can print as large as 12 x 22, so it works for magnetic signs.
If I did not have an Edge, and if every now and then I want to output a digital print ( paneling is possible) I would rather have it than not. And 500 bucks, compared to what I paid, is cheap. Of course, I would sell you mine for less

Be aware which Fargo it is. I have an older Primera Pro that originally retailed for about $1200 back in '92 or there-abouts. It printed very nice and glossy and I guess this was the model that someone discovered that if you trimmed vinyl sheets a certain way you could print on em'. Anyway it is very slow, as your substrate must go back and forth through machine for color like the Edge. Then I beleive Fargo went into producing printers exclusivly for vinyl printing.I also have a black cartridge for just b/w printing. Mine can be had cheap if interested.

I have a Fargo 310S, for the money it's a great little printer, with the right software you can print and then cut with your plotter....outdoor life on vinyl is about the same as a edge, if you cut your vinyl sheets nice and square you shouldn't have any feeding problems....mine is five years old and has given me no trouble at all.

Hi Mario, I have a Fargo 310S that we used quite a bit for 6-7 years but only use occasinally now for spot colours on clear vinyl. The registration is off on the process colours & not worth fixing at this point and we have HP 5000 now. Primera Technologies out of somewhere around Minneapolis services them still. Let me know if you need ph # or any info. I have process ribbon you could have too if it will work in what you're looking at.
