Talking with Queen Bunny, who runs the Product Sign Supplies....She has asked me to put some heat on all of the folks who made it to the "Harvest Moon" event last year to get off their asses and sign up so she can tell how much food/ T-Shirts and prizes to wave her magic wand at! Lastly she says... Y'all don't want to see the Texas Chain Saw Massacre, happen at yer place DoYa? Give her a call or fax in a conformation or something. This woman is getting on my nerves. ( But I like it ! )
Just filling in, WilArd

Yes, I will be there Victor G. and the date is to be on the 12th of October. I understand that Bunny, and fourteen maidens will be dancing the meringue' at noon Topless. For those who have not been to this event, I undestand it is a happening that tails off from many meets that began around 86' from all around the bay area and into Sacramento. It was originally started here by the Sierra Sign Assoc. and then stolen by Bunny, and her thugs from Product Sign. I think I'll be taking pepper spray in case she gets outta hand.

Just a note to let ya know... "CrazyJack" will be showing up here around the 10th to do a art show and I'll talk him into bringing some of his paintings to Harvest Moon. Some really nice stuff. He's been spread out between Utah, Arizona and New Mexico for awhile so I hope he makes it.
There is a lot of stuff to see in the way of workshops and demo's and photo worthy things, so bring a camera.

I too will be there and will be presenting a Demo. PSS has been left "splashless" since Adrienne moved up north, so I will be offering "Make BIG $$$'s" doing Window-Promo's, with an emphasis on quickie letter-styles and such,.....see ya' there!

The Sierra Sign Artists Assn. did this annual event for many years rotating between several shops. It was a two day event. Over the years with Jim Moser, Duane Hatfield, Jer Barlow and a few others hosting the meet, there seemed to be noone stepping forward to host one year and the gracious Kay & Betty offered their facility at PSS. Soon the two day event was reduced to one and the atmosphere of a meet in a supply house is very different than that in a sign shop. The meet still provides the social time packed into a day, and there is still some room to do a quickie panel, and there are lotsa door prizes of cans of lettering color and funny colored vinyls. The staff there are wonderful hosts and really put out to give everyone a great time, but it's different than a letterhead meet. It has a very commercial feel to it. I'm gonna pass on it this year for the first time.

As of today, it looks like attendance will be way down for the 2002 "Harvest Moon" Sign Artist social. This will probably be the last one as it is not cost effective to do this event the way it has been done in past years. The SanJose, "NorCal" meet met it's demise in a similar fashion and possibly the "Micro Meet" will be the last one standing. It is evident that a lot of us have cost issues to deal with as a matter of fact, so it is very understandable that getting around these days aint' cheap. So this is just a reminder that the 2002 event may be the swan song for this particular meet. Product Sign Supplies ,Sierra Sign Association and all the good people who have helped to keep these things going, are greatful for the support from all sign artists for attending the great events of the past.
Thanks, "CRAZYJACK" I'll be there. It started in 85' in Livermore and it was fun...!
Thanks to Wilard, a good friend to give me space here.

i don't really understand how a supplier can "lose" money by having a captive audience - that pays to attend - at a product demo show (which is what it has become). if i didn't attend shows like that i wouldn't have tried Dibond, Sintra, SignFoam and a bunch of other "new" products. i wouldn't have been aware of their inventory or resourse, and i wouldn't have had the face to face contact with their staff that helps build a vendor relationship. its too bad they don't seem to value this as a marketing expense.

It is about much more than a one day marketing gala. These events take a lot of people away from duties for months in advance and the setup time is imense as well. There have been more of a volunteer base in the past and a lot of product reps have brought manpower, giveaways, seminars and you name it. If you have never been to a big meet like the ones we had in San Jose, then it would be harder for you to understand. Think about trying to put one of these deals together yourself and you will see that just the planning alone can give you crabs. (humor) It is a massive wear and tear issue and we are all plain worn out at the end. I would certainly invite you to come over a day or two in advance just to watch the madness of preparations and stay a day later to see the clean up and re-organizing of the store to get ready to serve us. Product Sign Supply, is a proud and willing operation that intends mostly to keep a conection to all of us and the meet is their way of thanking us for our business. Try to imagine the cost of business insurance alone for the one day of this affair. It just makes sense to have as many people come to take advantage of the offerings on this day. The cost to me is a write off if I need it. I like the friends that Ive met through the years and I always have knowledge to share. Look me up and pick my brain, it's wide open.
