I usually use Acryl-a-clean Wax and Grease remover. Then I hit it real quick with some alcohol and off to the races...

XIM has a product called GON which is the wax and grease remover I have used for 27 years. Apply with paper toweling, careful not to re-deposit contaminant. Dry with another paper towel. Instructions on can. Available from Automotive paint store, household paint stores like Hirschfields and Sherwin Williams. The trick is, once the finish is totally free of wax, it will not feel as slick and not have any white "haze" from the cleaning. Never had a failure when vehicle surface was properly cleaned.
