I am running corel 9 with a Encad 736 printer. I am using Onyx RIP center. I am pulling my hair out trying to get my colors to come out correct. If I print on my regular printer from the computer the colors are great. Now if I print the same image on my Encad the colors change.. I'm talking about... Reds turn brown and Blues turn purple. I have tried everything the book says to do on the color profile but no go.... Is there anyone who has had experience with this problem. Please help me out on this... What profiles do i set and where do I change them... I am also using the GO outdoor ink... Thank you to anyone who can lend me a tip or two.... chuck coupland

Hi Chuck, check this out...www.encad.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/index.html.
To tell you the truth, what I've had to do is to set up my own colour grid and print it out to see exactly how each combination of colours will print. As I've had it explained to me the colour gamut ( number of printable colours) on this machine is limited by the type of ink you use.
As I've already made one up, email me and I'll email you the file back, it might help you.
I've yet not figured out how to set the colour profiles in corel to match the ICC profile of the medium I'm using. If anyone does, PLEASE LET ME KNOW...It's driving me mad
Cheers

Chuck, I'm not very familiar with Corel, but I am with ONYX PosterShop and the NovaJet. Here are some links relating to using color management in Corel:
Does the scaled down RIPCenter version of ONYX have the Open in Preflight option? If so you can view your file there, apply your media profile and see how it's going to look before printing. Are you using the Encad GO media and it's profile? If you're using a non-profiled media you are probably going to have to hassle with manually adjusting your color as described above.
One issue you may have in trying to apply an ONYX media ICC Profile to your monitor workspace is that ONYX incorporates the ICC Profile into its own unique ONYX Media Library file (*.oml) which just may not be compatible.
I'm curious if you are using Encad's profiled media, the color management engine should be matching your onscreen colors as closely as possible automatically, are you using GO media?
It is true that GO inks with GO media have a fairly limited color gamut, and if this is what is causing the problems (limited gamut unable to simulate your RGB color), we have a media that may be able to. Our Series 1916 Microporous media has twice the color gamut of the GO media with the GO inkset and is outdoor durable and less expensive because it is not topcoated (Lists at about $0.95/sq ft). And I have an ONYX profile for it on the NovaJet 736 I can email you.
Le me know if you'd like a 2 or 3 yard sample.
And there are also some inexpensive entry-level color management solutions available:

Color Management...Apply ICC profile.. Composite printer profile.... Send Bitmaps as RGB...Fountain Steps...1000 or (512)OK..Open the image in PosterShop..Process.. Click on Profiles...All Image & Vector Profiles should be..C:\ProfilesCorel\sRGBColorSpace.icm CMYK Media Output profile..the following Profile...Default Printer ICC Image Rendering Intent...Perceptual Vector Object..Saturation In your setup check to see if your printer uses GS or GA inks...run a test on each. The ink setup should give you the proper REDs Before you begin each day...wash your cartridges with distilled water...
