Similar to the trading post idea, but more like the give a penny take a penny tray you see at the corner store. I don't really know how to set it up, but it could be a link to an index of *eps. files and such.not to go to just to grab digbats but to exchange useful design elements for signmaking. Roland has something similar on their site for a buck each, maybe we can do it on the honor system. you never know, how useful the little swash you used on some sign you made a year ago could be to another sign person.

cool idea, Ken! Could you let me know how you come out? Is the art thing what you are looking for? Is it easily accessible and user friendly? I would love to know.

This sounds like a good idea, but there are too many risks involved. Letterville cannot afford the consequences of getting involved in copyright or similar legal issues.

Steve, What if wehad siome kind of disclaimer, or even seperate it completely from the letterhead site, I am thinking along the lines of a geocities website or something, where you wouls have to sign up and become a member. And only members could post or download images, could be as simple or as complicated as we choose to make it.

I don't want you to take this personal Ken, but we have to insist that you not use Letterville to promote any website that allows the free use of registered artwork. We've seen and heard enough to convince us that it is illegal. We're also of the opinion that it is morally wrong.
We realize there are websites out there where you can find corporate logos and other registered artwork. There are also all sorts of websites that offer expensive software for free. The fact that it is available does not make it legal.
Our first job as keepers of Letterville is to make sure it survives. It may well be that the owners of these other websites have deep pockets and welcome a legal battle. We don't. Even if the practise was legal, I personally find trading someone's hard work without any compensation to the owner offensive.
I hope all of you will respect our position on trading any registered clipart, fonts or other related material. As professional business people we should be investing our dollars in the tools we need. There are all sorts of Letterville Merchants and other vendors that offer these tools. Please use them.
From this day on, any link posted on this BB to a site with registered artwork or logos will be deleted. Please e-mail us if you discover such a link.

Wooh! Sorry Steve, I just thought it would be fun to trade little digbats back and forth, there are so many requests for so many different things( i.e.the controvertal skulls post) that I thought it would be cool to have a place where they were stored for easy access.Again I apologize, please drop this post.

No problem Ken. There was a CD vender put out of business after a Harley logo on their disc was used on a t-shirt. Many of these CD's actually have a disclaimer on them stating that any reproduction for profit is illegal. I guess they assume the customer only wants the artwork to render on their own personal underware.
