I am looking for a supplier of blackboard paint. Have a customer wanting a blackboard panel on an a-frame sandwich sidewalk sign. It needs to be black, not the white dry-erase.

This was available some years ago, but I am unable to find it and none of my suppliers have a clue.

Thanks,
Curt Stenz

My supplier (Product Sign Supplies, in San Jose and in Sacramento, CA) sells a quart of "Kemp" brand "chalkboard and ping-pong table" paint for $12.98. It comes in green or black. i've used the green on MDO for sandwich board signs, and it works fine. its solvent based (oil based). i haven't used the black, but i'm sure its just as good. i've seen people use Rustoleum flat black, and it works OK for light-use signs, but i wouldn't trust it for a chalkboard that gets written on and erased on a regular basis. I'm sure you can find the Kent stuff by doing a web search -- otherwise call PSS at 800-540-9199.

Crayola makes it - the cans look just like the crayon packs. They market it to paint whole walls in your kid's room. I'm sure that Lowe's or Home Depot probably carry it. If not maybe try www.crayola.com?

I just checked Crayola's website and, just like Jeff said, Benjamin Moore makes it. Any Benjamin Moore dealer will either have it or can order it for you, according to their site.

OSH has it in green in a spray can that works. Orchard Supply Hardware. Probably black, as well.
