Hi Heads,

 -
Some time ago I posted we would be targeting September 2002 for a due date for collecting original music recordings for the Songpainter 2 CD.

Its September, and I'm no where near ready. My songs are written, but not recorded and I have not even been playing the keyboard to keep in practice.

Is there enough interest in the project from contributers to re-organize and take this project off the back burner? POST BELOW

--------------
Songpainter (1) has only sold 25 copies since its release in December 2001. We did sell ( actually sacrificed) a few copies at the FIRECRACKER ROUTE 66 meet for $10.00. This brings the total amount raised for any Letterville chairty purposes to about $15.23

The main page of the Letterhead website has a very visiable advertisement for Songpainter...but its been months since it has generated an order. If you have been putting off obtaining a copy of Songpainter, now would be a good time to think about it again. This music is "timeless" and fun to listen to.

Everybody who has bought a copy, put it in and play it this week. [Smile]

Hi Dave, you know I'll be on this list.
Songpainter I was a fabulous learning experience for me, not only in stretching my musical skills, but in cracking a great deal of the digital recording mysteries so I could self-produce my creations on my home PC. The production quality of everybody's songs on that first CD was amaqzing. Hats off to Dave Ginley for his crisp, clear recordings that make you feel like he's sitting right in your living room with you.

The recording process was my biggest hurdle in being able to contribute to the project, and I suspect it might be for others. I will do whatever I can to talk you through it and share what I have learned about PC recording. It's pretty dang easy once someone explains you through the smoke and mirrors - and cheap too, requiring little or no cash outlay to set up a home computer to be a digital multi track recorder. So don't let that hold you back.

I'm probably good for three submissions to the new project. Two original songs, already recorded, that I can substitute a new vocal track to fit the Songpainter theme, and a working progression for a new song I want to do specifically for it.

I need a lot more time however as all audio programs have been deleted from my current setup due to various upgrades. In fact, I would prefer to get a whole separate computer dedicated to audio, and that may not happen for a few months. But there's no way I would let this project go on without me - if the participation is there to move quicker on this I will find a way.

A final thought;
In the past, several people intimated they were game to get on board this time around. Bob Parsons being one I can remember off the top of my head. A couple weeks ago in Mars when I was playing a few Songpainter cuts at the open mic, I met a fella from North Carolina with a magnificent big, white '65 Gretch Double Eagle hollowbody who not only said he would participate, HE WAS DAMN GOOD! Steve, what was his name again and how do we reach him? I will try to scrounge up your past emails and extend the invitation personally, but if you're reading this, now is a good time to come forward and commit. Looking forward to expanding the gene pool on this outing and I'll do whatever I can to help.
