I figured out how to put vector files up on my webspace for downloading. The first one I'm offering is actually several variations on a theme. Since they're vector drawings, of course they can be manipulated any way you want. (The word "first" implies that there will be more to come...wouldn't ya think?)
I drew these last night, so get 'em while they're fresh! The link is on my 'bio' page. Please note that my website URL has changed. I won't make a habit outta that...just switched over to Dreamweaver and learnin some ropes. Cool program!
Also, if some of you have a minute, I'd sure appreciate if you took a look at the new "Need a Designer?" page that I've added. It explains my 'venture' a bit.

Thanks Don, I will get good use from it. Could you explain how to link the file. Is their special extentions needed to load or download a zip file, or is it accepted by the server just as that (a .zip file) I do a lot of one time use designs that others could use for themselves. I have had to create 2 seperate old locomotive train files in Corel that I could share, plus many others Thanks again, Jack

I had thought of doing this for a couple weeks, but couldn't figure out how to do it. The solution is so easy that it's almost embarrassing.
Just zip the file and upload it to your webspace. Browsers will try to treat all files as images, but zipped files automatically become downloadable. All you need to do is link to the zip file. It's just that simple.
By the way, I can't take credit for figuring this out. I'm not that smart. I found it on a webmaster message board yesterday.

Don, You are actually making this one step harder than it needs to be! Just put the AI file on your server and point to it. Since the web browsers can't handle AI files, it automatically asks if you want to open the file or save it to disk. You can eliminate the need for people unzipping the file (unless you are trying to include the resource fork with the Mac file, or you want to include a group of AI files in one zip file).
There are three free sample files on my web site, linked below, all using that same method.
Good luck, Mike Jackson

Might also want to make a small GIF image of the scroll and link the AI file to that so people could see what they are downloading. (I grabbed it anyway knowing it would be cool ... it was) thanks
