Sounds more like the melamine surfaced medex used for cabinets. Bob is correct...check it after the first rainstorm!
A sort of similar product is Abitibi (bathtub enclosure...melamine on Masonite. Trouble is that paint doesn't bond to either one very wells and scrapes off easily!

they said its called 1/2'' dura-ply it has a hard smooth wood face to it like (masonite) and that alot of the guys around here use it in the winter for their ice shanty's I will bet it dont hold up in the rain with out good coat of paint !! and for how long?
gos back to my old saying..... you get what you pay for !!!
NO cuting cost for me I will stick to alumalite I know I'm safe there!

Duraply is basically the same thing as MDO. I used a lot of it many, many, years ago. As long as it's primed and painted properly it will hold up exactly like MDO.
BTW...thats a pretty good price for 1/2" with a finish on it.

Anyone who will sell a 4x8 "with loads of copy and clip art" for $140 deserves all the nickle-pinching jerk customers they'll get. Tell me you're not trying to "compete" with prices like that. Please.

If you are looking for a “board” that has ply’s of wood as the core and melamine faces, ask for a product called “Finnished” here in the States. I think Cam was the first to explain this product to me at Mass Mayhem but couldn’t remember the name. I little search time was put into it and I came up with the product name mentioned above. More info can be had at www.koskisen.fi (yes they are based in Finland) When looking at that site (in English), look for a product called Koskinella. I prefer non-wood substrates where possible, but this product may be a prospect in certain applications. I brought a piece in house to have a look and to “experiment” with. Off the shelf (less normal prep procedures) it is ready for paint, vinyl, or silk screening.
