My husband and I have been slowly getting around to painting rooms in our house, one by one since we bought it last summer. Our bedroom was next on the list and I was really looking forward to getting it done this long weekend.
Thursday morning, I went to the store and got a gallon of a beautiful violet color. I've had this color picked out for a year and was very excited about it.
Saturday morning, my husband and I got up bright and early, got all of our "stuff" ready and started. It really looked nice but I actually liked the "wet" color better than when it dried. Oh well, it was still fine.
About halfway through, I realized that - sh*t, we are not going to have enough paint! The walls have this strange texture and it wasn't covering well so a second coat was required. Besides, it's 112º out and the last place I want to go on a Saturday afternoon is the local home improvement store.
Not having any choice, I drove over and got another can of paint. Same brand, same type, same paint chip. (I'll bet you can see where this is going...)
I get home, we start in on the second gallon and a few minutes later my husband and I are looking at each other like - oh boy, we've got a problem. It's a totally different color.
The kicker is that I like it much better than the first so I guess everything happens for a reason, right?
We thought we'd have no trouble knocking it out in one day but we were having dinner at a friend's house last night so we had to stop painting. Had to sleep on our mattress in the living room last night too because we couldn't put our furniture back in the room. It was actually kinda fun - my idea of camping!
So, after my husband gets back from playing tennis this morning, we're gonna go over all of the places that still have the old color on them. Unfortunately, it's all the hard stuff like around the windows and the doors. Ain't that always the way it works?

Hahahaha Kimberly! I have done that. The last time I painted the livingroom I got a 5 gallon bucket of paint so it wouldn't happen again. Are you still moving to Seattle??!! It would be great to meet you!

Hahahahaaa....don't you just love the computer controlled paint matching systems?
Last year a painting cvontractor,that i have been working with for many years, sends over a color swatch. The instructions were to paint 24 inch street numbers on the upper right front corner and upper left rear corner of the building. Sissors lift will be behind the building.
When I arrive, I had to sit down beacuse I was laughing so hard.The awning over the entrance was a different shade of blue from the door frame and windows, which were also a different shade grom the building stripes....and none matched the color swatch! So...I find the project manager , drag him outside, and explain the problem. After a short discussion, it is decided to match the stripes colors, since they are positioned closer to the area of the new numbers! @%$#&^$*.... now I gotta mix more paint! just then a van arrives...and it's the crew that I have worked with many times. After greetings all around:
"Hey Amigo...whatcha here for?"
"I have to paint the nubers on the building...and I have to match that %$#^@& blue that you used to paint the stripes."
"Momento...Hey! Manuel...bring the lift around to the front for Si!"
He then goes to the van and brings me a gallon of the blue they used on the stripes!
Sometimes things DO WORK OUT OK!

Nope, the Seattle gig fell through although you never know. My husband's company has two hotels up there, the other one is a definite possibility. Regardless, I'll get up there one of these days even if it is just to visit.
