Don we have named it "Coupe du Main" it translates to "A Stroke Of The Hand." It is a Cajun Custom to lend a hand to friends and neighbors in need. When the work is done, everyone is there, so they have an excuse to have food and fun!
The Cajun language is a bit like Spanish in that it depends upon where you are as to how it translates. So Roger, who knows, it could mean "Southern Exposure" or worse somewhere in Louisiana!
Also Roger we would like to thank you for your support.
Come on down folks! We have Rapid Tac!

Hey Kathy, & R.T. looking like a really good time is coming your way. I know in my earlier tumbleweed days I would not have considered resisting the inclination to make it happen for myself.
Thanks also for the offer to roll my celebratin' plans into the mix. Being a 1 sign-addict family I will stick with the current plan for Linda's sake. (& mine in the end)
I would also like to know if you will be open to selling shirts (XL)to those of us only there in spirit? I am sure your to-do list is too long to mess with that now, but if you print any over-runs I think the 88 hits on this thread is a good indication, that we would buy them.

Sounds like this is going to be one hell of a party! I mean Letterhead meet. BBQ Gator steaks uuuumhhh sounds delicious with Salsa! I just found out my ticket I had for the Duck Meet is still valid till Sept. Now I'm thinking of using the ticket and pay the balance to head out to New Orleans. Which is the best way to fly in to N.O. or to Baton Rouge? If I can make it, is there anyone want to split a room? And is there anyone from either area that I can hitch a ride with to the meet? On my map looks like and hour or so from New Orleans. Let me know, sounds very interesting!

Cisco, you make the flight arrangements and get here, and we'll get you to the meet and hang a hammock up for you between 2 tall trees. You make the call New Orleans or Baton Rouge, dos que tres.
These examples should serve as a small tutorial on the local dialect, know as Yat.
Id don madda": It doesn't matter; or, it is not important.
"Yea, you right": You are right. A phrase that implies agreement.
"Ova deah": Over there. Often mumbled when pointing in a direction.
"Watchyadoin?": What are you doing? (Drinkin' a dixie, watchin' the Aints.)
"Yall be good now": a common goodbye phrase when leaving a gathering
"Who'dat?": Who's that? Made famous with "Who'dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?"
"Wowdee": a relatively new word which young black men often refer to each other with; homeboy; "g"
"Lassiez le bom temps roule!": French for "Let the good times roll!"
"Catchalayta": See you later
"Mawnin": good morning; or, come on in
"Ah-ee": the Cajun version of "yee-ha"
"Aint nuttin gonna change!": Louisiana will always be a corrupt, poor hellhole.

Cisco, you may want to come into the New Orleans airport instead of Baton Rouge. The airport is actually in Kenner, LA which is west of N.O. It is only 47 miles from my house via I-55 through the Manchac Swamp.
As soon as you make arrangements let Santo, R.T. or myself know and we will get you here.
Don't worry, we gone took care of ya Southern Style!

Kathy, as to your Southern Style Hospitality, I can relate to that. I'd be honered to be at your Letterhead Meet. Señor Santo gave me a call about arrival patterns. I was very happy to hear a voice to the post. I have earnest thoughts of heading out that way. As soon as I can get some contracts covered I will give a commitment.
Oh I heard there might be a Southern Style Ping Pong Table? Now that would be interesting...

Pat, amigo! hey yeah it will be a trip to see you again I look forward to it, Kathy, and R.T. also the rest of the southern folks out your way.
Amy, Yeah I also heard about that little skeeter, looks like he's doing some serious damage. I will take my spray and eat plenty of garlic. Keeps even the fleas away. Or I might have to find me a new Mojo, that will keep them lousy suckers away from me. I remember they took a liking to me when I was in the south. Maybe Bertha got rid of some of them bas*ards.
Other then that, I remember New Orleans as a very interesting fun place. I was there 3 times in '98. Even caught me this "Red Fish"

I got nothing much to add other this post makes 100. As far a s the skeeters go, the spray crews are out every night and the groups in the day are eliminating areas where mosquitoes nest. We have been hot and dry like most of the country, but recent rains have aided the mosquitoe population. The efforts now will result in a lower mosquito population soon.

Hell, there's skeeter everywhere... even in alaska. But "we" the locals know that a few skeeters reports in the money hungary media won't bother us. And we don't panic over a few over blown media reports of some exotic sickness. Have no fear. "We" do this "skeeter killin" every year as its one of our customs. West nile is in lots of other states too.
Im beginning to hate CNN. They tend to over play some reports when they got nothing else after which to chase and bark.
Did you see the report of the X playboy model? She was slurring and braggin about doing her latest porno movie with 2 girls, 7 men and a dog. Looked like she was goona fall out at any second.
Lookit the crop circle rage on CNN. Lookit the couger attack up in the North as reported on CNN has milked for the past 4 days..
Hell people in California have lived with that for years and take precautions against big cats like we do against the mighty skeeter. In fact i think we should have an open season on skeeters. Issue points and have a spot in the record books for the skeeter with the longest straw.
I wonder when jerry springer will pop out and be a CNN reporter.
Skeeters and west nile.. nutin more than the latest cash cow that CNN is milking..

I would like to offer a little information on the West Nile Virus scare here in Louisiana.
There have been four deaths in the state. The youngest was a 53 year old man with health problems. The others were 72, 75, and 83. There have been a few local cases reported with no deaths and only 1 was kept in the hospital.
Only 1% of the people who are bitten by an infected mosquito will become sick enough to show any symptoms at all. Very few develop encephalitis due to contracting WNV.
The virus has spread to 34 states, not just Louisiana. Our Governor declared a state of emergency only because he hopes to get federal funding for mosquito control. In 2000 New York and New Jersey each got $5 million. New York had the worst outbreak in the US in 1999.
The mosquitoes have not been nearly as bad this year as in the past 3 years. With the news of the virus mosquito control has taken full measure. I don't expect any real problem.
Is precaution a good idea? Yes. I have been spraying and we are going to use citronella candles and torches as we always do here. Bring mosquito repellant, it is uncomfortable to be bitten. I HATE skeeter bites.
However, if we should feel that having a meet here would endanger guests any more than anywhere else in the US, we will either cancel or inform you that you would be in danger.

We got Skeeters here too. they are kinda like Franchise shops, ya just learn to live with em'. (That was said in a jovial way, not to rip any franchise shops.) I was thinkin' of Driving down since Santo sent me a Mississippi River link.....I could just follow the river! Anyone along the way put me up for a night? I'll paint for food. If I go down I35 I can get to Kansas City in 6 hours, but that ain't following the River, just a distance/time meter.
This will wake em up....COON ASS!
(How's it going Kathy and R.T.?) Need more help from Suppliers?

Mike, Santo has done you good, man! When I need a quick get-a-way my favorite place is Natchez, MS. The old town is like walking into the past. I am not afraid to walk the streets alone after dark. The old plantations there are numerous and fantastic. Natchez under the hill is a must. Dinner at the Natchez Eola Hotel is a great culinary experience, yet affordable. Down River is St. Francisville, LA nice plantations there also.
On second thought don't go to Natchez, you won't want to leave to come to the meet! My oldest grand-daughter and I get depressed every time we leave there.

Put me down for a large. Still thinking I might be able to make it, but I'll take a shirt either way.
I am trying to get things together for my meet in Oct. and I have discovered that as far as workload, planning to have a meet brings in even more business than planning to attend one.
