Hi Guys; I know I am the only one on God's green earth to have this issue but I'm out of solutions and I turn to you all. Sorry, Kristy, you'al. Trying to stay current I coated a 4x8 with water-base paint. Relative shiny, Direct To Metal paint recommended by my friendly paint store, the owner, actually. It is a special turquoise color. The board is aluminum composite with the funky powdercoating. When it was good and dry I applied vinyl lettering.
It's now 3 months later and the vinyl is selectively falling off. I did a quick repair with 3M 77 on both the vinyl and the background for now...but this is NOT a permanent solution. I know, should of coated it with one shot...but I was afraid of it not sticking to the white coating. The DTM feels waxy, I'm not sure why. The vinyl sticks patchily. Is that a word?
What is best solution short of replacing sign or repainting it?? I could mask and coat with one shot or acrylic...both of which would have to be color matched. Ideas?? If I could post a picture I would show you that its a very unusual logo. Several colors and fonts mixed together. Jer, (who is frustrated in Turlock)

Jer, If it was me, I'd do it over and use an oil based enamel. Vinyl and water based backgrounds have always seemed iffy. High gloss water based seems more stable to me.
