Could anyone suggest a shiny gold vinyl for the inside of glass? I have a good client that wants a "Gold leaf" window...but he doesn't know...he showed me pictures of other jobs that are gold mylar with black outlines. I've had many requests for this and have seen some pretty good jobs using this type of material on the inside of glass. Any suggestions on material and suppliers? Thanks John Arnott

Hi John. Long, long time since I did a job like you've described, but I recall having an old offcut piece of the gold double-sided mylar film that I've found. I don't know if it's still made or even if it's still available, but the product was Avery FasCal 500 Gold Gloss / Ref. 784116

If I recall, I cut the gold letters separately ( mirror image ) and
included 4 smaller squares that I used as "registration marks. I then cut the black outline-shade separately, including those same 4 squares. When the squares were aligned, the black was applied right over the gold mylar. The registration squares were then removed to finish up.
Ordinarily, if used on any other substrate, the gold varnish fades and the mylar reverts to it's silvery appearance, but on glass, it holds up for several years. It's by no means, anywhere comparable to real gold leaf, but the customer should be made aware of it's limitations, and the durability just isn't the same.

Hope this helps you out.

Why do I get all those on-line offers to sell me Viagara, when the only thing hardening is my arteries ?

I think the REAL GOLD might have some with gold on both sides, I've had some with silver on the back.
