So I got the call we all wait for. Can I letter and stripe a full size stagecoach? Can I? ...yes, I think I can!
Do any of you have experience in scoping out/bidding this complicated thing? I would love to discuss it with you. I did some research on line and have broken it down into panels and such. I am working on how detailed the scrolling will be. Help!

I personally do not have any experience striping a coach, but I think I remember Ian Stewart-Koster in Australia who used to be active on this site, has experience with old coaches and such.

I would not know how to contact him.

I hope this helps,
Bob

Wow, I sure like to get a call like that. So how ornate will the stagecoach be? From simple line to full blown gilded scrolls combined with many outlines and a bit-O Asphameum blends.

Like Alicia said, some asphaltum blends on some gold leaf scrolls would be sweet.

I hope to pitch it both ways, Gold scrolls and imitation gold stripes...and all gold. Yes to the asphaltum shades. Name band is only 3 inches high so lettering will be stretched some. I'm hoping for 3 step shade.

Will you get the stage delivered to your place? Will it be in pieces or assembled? One of the guys I worked with as an apprentice used to tell me about when he was an apprentice and part of his job was caring for the horses while the wagon was being lettered. I hope you don't have feeding and shoveling to do.

Now there's a thought to ponder. No, fur as I know the horses are staying home. I have arranged with a local farmer to use his covered rv parking space. The coach is complete and will arrive whole.
I will try to do the wheels on the coach. If I can get them in the air I think it will work. Can turn them on the axle. Did the firetruck years ago like that. Back wheel is said to weigh 180 pounds. Don't really want to lift that to a table top.
I'm not happy that the top board (where the company name goes) is only 3.5 inches tall and over 8 feet long. Wish I could fix that.
HEY! Have you priced gold lately??

I have not priced gold lately. I'd assume over a buck a leaf for the Chinese stuff and half that again more for Italian. Also, does the company have a long name?

A Pack of patent is around 1500.00. I think that figures out to over 6.00 a leaf. And the batteries are not included.
Got my monogram and swirlie patterns figured out yesterday. Wish I could post pics here. Doing sample panel now.
Have to figure out axle jacks too.

I was waiting before posting, but...BUT it appears this isn't happening. I've called many times, Message boxes full and no answer. I sent text messages, all with no answer. They have a website and are, I think, legit.
Perhaps I bid too high but I don't think the bid was out of line. 6kish with gold prices 2kish. What're you going to do.
I did see the coach in person and photograph it. It is real. Oh Well.

Go buy one for you and put your name on it and use it in parades. Just rent horses as needed.

Well shoot, Gerald . . . Here I done went and got my sign box all ready to come out to California. Not to help you, but, to sit on while I watch.
Yes, a pretty big let-down. Best of luck on the next one.
