This evening, I attempted to phone an old-time Letterhead friend, Dave Grundy, and was informed by Shirley, his long-time partner, that he had passed away last October. Dave was a regular on this board and was always inclined to provide a helping hand to those who asked. He'd attended several Letterhead meets in the USA, and upon retirement, avoided our Canadian winters by spending those months in Mexico.
AKA: "Applicator" on the chat line. Rest in peace, old friend.

Dave was a super guy. He helped so many people with Corel and cutting bridge programs. He was a journeyman body man and advised many of us on all things paint and prep. I learned early to never speak of fish eye remover. He is home with Si, Joe, Gavin, Steve and so many of the characters of the time. Rest peacefully my old friend.

Oh, so sad to hear this. I still think of that time I came to Canada and Dave and I and Ken Henry sat around the kitchen table talking the evening away. RIP Dave.

Folks, i have missed this bullboard and so logged in again as i wanted to send something to Dave as he had been such a helpful part of this community. So now I'm sitting at my kitchen table working through old tears that didn't know they needed to be shed.
Life has that rule, no one gets off the solar system alive but i tell you the connection that so many of you provided to me through the years made my life all the sweeter.
I got to a number of letterhead events in Ireland and the UK. Then the highlights were the 2 walldogs meets in Jacksonville, Illinois and Algoma.
To meet so many of my kin was the highlight of my career with brushes, sharpie markers, pounce bags.
I'm going to start posting again and stir up some remembrances of things past as Shakespeare said. And sigh the lack of many things i sought. But if i think on thee dear friend (Dave) All losses are restored and sorrows end.
God bless Shirley.
Talk again friends.

Though I have been retired from signmaking for a number of years now and have not been a contributor to Letterville for some time now...I just happened to click on Letterville tonight and learned of Dave's passing...I did not know Dave personally...but I knew from what he wrote the kind of person he must have been...I always respected and admired that man...I felt as if I knew him personally from those things he wrote...I find myself saddened tonight...even tearful to think of his passing...I hope his passing was in the best way as easy as possible.
