My Gerber HS 15 plus plotter probably is dead. I just sent it out to the Plotter Doctor, hopefully it can be repaired. If it can’t be fixed, what should I buy?. I use it with my Edge Printer,

Plotter Doctor is pretty good. But if you have to buy a new plotter,,, I've had my Summa 30 in since 2005. The only thing I had to have fixed is the "Cutter blade thingy" It stopped going up and down. Cost about $1000.oo to fix. Because they are in Seattle, I was able to drive it up there and avoid shipping costs.

-"Cutter blade thingy" It stopped going up and down. My didnt completely stopping going up and down, it did cut some but not all. Easily fixed with removing dust and adding two tiny drops of thin oil in the bearings of the up and down movement parts. Technican at Summa sellers here advised me on this.

I sent it out to the plotter doctor. It has been over 2 weeks, and not back yet. Fedex says Tuesday. Cost was $1750 with round trip shipping charges. I hadn’ t cut vinyl in over a month. The day I got 2 big orders, it broke. We resurrected our 23 year old graphtec. I just finished cutting all the vinyl for both of those jobs. Luckily I didn’t get any non-square/rectanlgle Edge print jobs. Those I hand cut.

I was in a similar situation last year due to a lightning strike on my Envision 375. I worked my way through Craigslist going closest to farther away. I bought one in Louisville, KY. It lasted 30 days
Then I found a great deal in Columbus Ohio at a pawn shop. It seems a former sign maker pawned his equipment. We bought it all. I acquired a Envision 375 which i use everyday. My first Envision lasted 20 years until it was struck by lightning. I am a big fan of Gerber equipment

I just got the vinyl cutter back from The Plotter Doctor. Very happy with the repairs. Works as well as it did 26 years ago when I bought it 2nd hand. Diane
