The covid pandemic has been frustrating for me and I suspect many around me. It feels like I am marching in place. It feels like it all takes just as much energy but without any forward progress of note.
While not locked down totally at our house and shop we are certainly limiting travel and even trips to town. Visitors to our property are way down compared to previously. The gates are kept closed save for appointments. Most business is conducted virtually rather than in person. When we do meet face to face with clients everyone prudently wears masks and keeps their distance. Greetings are done with a wave and smile rather than the traditional handshake. We need to be cautious about every interaction, keeping our circle of close contacts as small as possible. It is a very unfamiliar way of doing business.
Travel for business has largely been cancelled over the last eight months and for the foreseeable future. International travel is a thing of the past, indefinitely. I certainly miss that!
The circle of friends and family we would normally visit with has become a whole lot smaller this year. I miss them.
While all of these steps are absolutely necessary and prudent I'm not at all a fan. To this 'old timer' it is it feels distrustful to those I love and respect around me and I don't like it one little bit.
But as we watch the statistics and see the mounting death toll this 'new normal' is the only sensible way to do business.
So for now I'll reluctantly continue marching in place, anxiously awaiting the return to better times.
Keep well and stay safe, friends.

I’m so thankful we moved the business home. We’ve been very busy. At first with Covid decals and signage, now with general signage and wayfinding. We still have access to the CNC router we sold, but we are subbing out more work now. The biggest sign we do now in-house is 4’x8’. It’s just Laurie and I and a couple of part timers. We sub out a lot of our installations. Our granddaughter has opted for distance learning so that is a relief. Our son works part time with us and is coping well. Our daughter is a real-time captioner and has more work than she can handle. 90% of her work is from home, remotely. She does most of it for 5 universities in Texas. The future certainly doesn’t look good. However, as my Dad always said, “Make hay while the sun shines.” Best wishes to all my Letterville friends.

Good evening from Ireland. Long time since Ive popped, good to see some familiar names popping up. Amazing how similar things are worldwide. Were in full lockdown here again for an initial six weeks to try get control on the virus. Were lucky we can continue to work as manufacturing is permitted. Its all about riding it out till vaccines become available shortly and we can all get some normality back. Stay safe guys

We are very busy right now. There is a bit of a building "bubble" going on in my part of the world. We almost can't keep up with the work. Covid hasn't affected our work so much but we don't go out or visit like we used to. I know it's killing my extroverted friends but for me, an introvert, I'm happy in my shelter.

Out here, busy as usual. The only time I wear the "Mask" is when I go to the market or hardware store. And even with that, I sometimes just carry it in my hand. I kinda like to think maybe others will follow suit. Next month will be interesting. I'm hoping for a new brave Governor. My neighbors are cool. They don't care what I do and I don't care what they do.

Finishing-up a somewhat busy summer, and getting ready to start a couple creative jobs.
As Duncan said, we are making hay while the sun shines, and I've taken some time to put the finishing touches on the shop, such as tile work, installing doors, windows, sinks, workbenches, etc.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...or that's the train coming.

Ya know, I think after the election things will start to go back to normal. At least I pray they do. I like to think the commercial businesses that closed up may be re-opened. The old flooring store may become a carpet showroom, restaurants may return. And most of them will need new signs. That's our bread and butter.

Fauci said the other day that things may not get back to normal until 2022. Europe is busy shutting back down after having opened up.
