My experience was....With Corel X3 already installed on Win 8.1 which I then "upgraded" to Win 10 Corel X3 worked fine.

BUT when I decided to do a clean-up job on my computer and installed a fresh version of Win 10 and then installed Corel X3 afterwards, some features didn't work correctly.

So I upgraded to Corel X7 and everything works fine now.

I don't know what version of Windows you currently run, but if it is Win 7 or earlier, you will experience quite a bit of a learning curve on the operating system. As far as the difference between Corel X3 and Corel X7, some minor interesting improvements but nothing major. I had to do a bit of tweaking to Corel's workspace to get it to what I was comfortable with. But that was no big deal.

If you rely on your computer for work production, I would suggest you use a home computer to get used to Win 10 and to Corel X7, X8 or the new Corel 2017. That way your work flow won't be interrupted.

X3 has no support any more and none of the updates to it are available. if it works......as is the version that is on the CD .....you will be lucky. if i remember there were 3-4 critical updates to the original version........WITHOUT THEM is a crap shoot. X4, X5 X6......will work with WIN 10, and updates for them are still available.

I recently bought a new laptop with win 10. I have X3 on my desktop. I looked into installing Corel but everything I read said it was a no go. It either won't install or if it does it screws up other stuff on the computer. Since my plotter died the other day and I only used it a couple of times a year it's all a moot point.

I downloaded the Corel X3 service pack 1 & 2 ages ago - at least they work for Win XP & Win7.
I think the two SPs were about 40-50 meg each, if anyone needs them...

I've not bothered to test my mind with W8 or W10-I tried and did not like either at all.

[Rolling On The Floor] Ian, I hear you as far as Win 8 was concerned...It was a disaster...Win 8.1 was a definite improvement...Win 10 is a very good operating system.

I was always reluctant to try new operating systems and always thought the one I had was the best it could get...unfortunately, I was wrong.

Yes Win XP was great in it's day and so was Win 7. But times change and new programs come out that are better than previous versions and some require the newest operating system.

I enjoy the challenges of new stuff, but then I no longer have to depend on them to earn a living.

Not a big fan of Win10 but I've had no problem running X3 in it.

iam with "stewy" you will more then likly need thos 2 updates to make it work in WIN 10. and i think IF YOU HAD X3 on a machine and UPGRADED TO WIN 10.... it will work no problem.
having a WIN 10 machine and ADDING X3 from its original cd...... is where you might have problems.
my X3 has all the updates......and its version # is 13.0.0.667 this would be the best

That was my point...If you have Corel X3 already installed and then upgrade to Win 10 then Corel X3 will work fine....BUT if you buy a computer with Win 10 as the operating system or reinstall Win 10 and THEN try to install Corel X3, it ain't going to work correctly!

Spring a few bucks and buy a newer version of CorelDraww.

When we get back to Canada I will be buying the upgrade version of Corel 2017. $200...Worth it to have the newest version!

Thanks folks...

I am actually still running it on an old XP machine!

All of the other computers in my household (wife and 3 teenage boys) have 10.

Planning on getting a new laptop, so i guess I'll have to upgrade.

Probably try to install it on my wife's comp and see how it goes.

Wish me luck!

[Thanks]

(We're still using several XP machines...they have LPTs, and they work for the job I ask of them.)
