Hey.
We are a small sign shop and have a regular client in need of re-doing his 12' tall x 20' long double sided sign. Currently it has what appears to be a banner, wrapped snugly, which is currently in bad shape color wise.
He has asked me about re-doing this sign. We've never worked on a sign this large - my suggestions to him were to remake new printed banner material and re-wrap, or use numerous 4'x 8' panels to recreate the graphic area.
I would appreciate any better suggestions to re-do his sign. (It can not be an internally lit sign)
Also, this sign is just south of Raleigh - and would appreciate any proposals from you to do the job for us.
Or, if I wind up ordering banner material or 4x8 pcs - someone to install for me??
Thanks so much!
My below info is our old address / I can't change it on my profile for some reason, it won't open up for me.

If you have any photos, it would help. I have a couple of questions... does the "banner" face go under the retainer, or is it a "bag" that completely covers the sign? Is the sign close to 24" thick?

But from your description, what you are described sounds like a Panaflex sign. Panaflex looks a lot like banner, but it is a translucent material, and the graphics are usually printed on it... the face is held in by special clips that have a nut that has to be loosened with an impact, the face removed, and then the clips removed. You have to access the clips by removing the retainer, but sometimes there isn't a retainer, and you have to remove the signs outer skin....not too hard of a job, all in all, just time consuming.

You can get a full face from several vendors, Indy Imaging and Z3 Graphics are who I usually purchase from. You could order the face, and have a larger company close to you change it out. If I were closer, I'd do it....

Many years back when our son was in college, SHelby was a nearby town. I visited some sign shops with Jake helping him find part time work. One we visited was a shop that prints this type of sign and ships them all over the country. They have these printers that are gigantic! They had a row of spray heads and the smell was one we come to know as dangerous. There were guys walking around wearing no masks and smoking cigarettes. We walked out and I decided at that point that I will never bad rap OSHA again.

Mark M. Kottwitz, my photo won't paste on here and I see no where to upload an image. I could send to your email. (I see I need a URL to upload!)

Hi Debra,
If the above advice doesn't get you the answers you're looking for, contact GH Imaging (ghimaging.com) or Signs 365 (signs365.com). Both of these companies do a lot of large format printing, and can probably give you some good recommendations.

I don't know who you might talk to a Signs 365; but I've dealt with Brandon Schultz at GH, and he's always been a big help.

Thanks Dale!
Mark did confirm via photo, the existing sign is covered with printed banners.
We order from Signs 365 all of the time, and love working with them. Thank you so much for the advice!
