How many take credit cards and how many don't?

I recently switched merchant account companies but they started adding fees that weren't agreed upon. After 5 unreturned phone calls, I emptied my business' bank account so they couldn't make anymore drafts. The owner then calls this morning, says he will remove the fees and email me a copy of the contract. That was several hours ago and he hasn't returned 2 phone calls since. I think I may have to close my bank account and start over. They can send us a return label for their machine, if they want it back. I get tired of people who don't call back but get extra nervous when they can make drafts on my bank account.

use this link and get some free processing with the square system.

https://squareup.com/i/B3785746

I use the square with my smart phone nearly every day. Money is in my account in a couple days at most.

We have a retail clothing store and our sign and screen printing shop. Retail we have to take credit cards. However, EVERY sign or screen printing job I say 'We appreciate cash or check, if you would like to use a debit or credit card there is a 3% charge as that is what my bank charges me to process them. Whichever you would like to do" Not one complaint. Customer - business or even retail clothing customers know nothing is free. In fact half the people buying clothing ask if we take credit cards, and I say 'I would appreciate a cash or check, but you are welcome to use your card if need be". I do not charge them.
I reason that I am giving a discount, especially on screen printed items anyway based on the quantity purchased, I'm not going to lose another 3%. No one in business can go to the bank and get a 3% loan. The very few who have said they would like to use a card did so (I believe anyway) so they could spread out the sign payment or large screen printing order, and have no problem with the charge. It took me quite awhile to just get over it and come up with a reasonable diplomatic way to say it.

I use Square because I get a credit card every 3 -6 months. Everybody else wants a monthly fee, and I can't see paying a fee for something I am not using. Square charges higher rates than most, but when you remove the monthly fee, it comes out pretty close. I also add for using a credit card.

I also use the square and wouldn't use anything else. I was getting charged rediculous fees with a credit card company....even being charged a monthly fee for not enough activity.

Square here as well.

BTW, if you haven't already ordered yours, Square has been shipping the new card chip readers. Make sure you get one.

I am using a local bank for my merchant services. I was using an out of state bank but I also had a problem with the excessive fees. Now I can just call my local rep that I see regularly and she gets things straight - no excessive fees and good service. I am probably the only one who doesn't use square but I just feel safer going with someone local. My fees average a little over 3% on transactions and I pay a monthly service charge around $15. I keep my merchant account in a different bank from my regular business accounts and I don't keep much balance in that account.

Update. The "Vice President" who signed us up. still has not returned any calls (6) and has apparently now either blocked my emails or closed his email addy because I'm getting Mailer Daemons now. I closed my business bank account so they can't make any drafts or cost me any stop payments. The monthly bills had cleaned it out anyway. I will just open another one.

The other guy, owner, finally sent a cellphone photo of the "contract" and it says we are "subject to" a termination fee of $550. I sent the owner and Vice President termination emails with termination letters, then the "VP" blocked me and the owner hasn't responded.. I will be trying out Square. Thanks for the help everyone.

I use the 'cube' from US bank and have had excellent results. 2.9% fee is fine. Rather pay it than have to go to the bank to make a deposit....I know I could do online banking with a photo of the check, but too much hassle remembering all the usernames and passwords.

Actually, if we really want to defeat ISIS, all they need to do is change their passwords and make them call some 900 number to change them. Charge them $10 a minute and I bet they would retreat back to their caves.

I did get a new cell phone and the switch-over has been a nightmare with forwarding my former email addresses. usernames and passwords! This techno world is getting too hard for us maul stick users any more.
