Gosh, I just downlorder it and my Norton computor police said it was a unsafe exe. Plus I got that "Gimpshopeditor.setup.exe is not commonly downloader and could harm your computor" I know it was too good to be true.

quote: If you guys want to try a great open source vector software, give Inkscape a shot.
GIMP has been put forth as the free alternative to Photoshop as a bitmap editor. Some have even said a 'replacement' for Photoshop, but I question whether it will gain that much traction. It's not a vector program, so you can't really compare it to Illustrator.
Inkscape, on the other hand, has much potential. I don't use it in place of my main vector designware, but I use it in addition. In fact, I plan to always use it as a second program in addition to anything else I use.
Some things I like about Inkscape:
Illustrator can open Inkscape (SVG) files, and Inkscape can open Illustrator files. Inkscape has Spiro Spline tools for rendering smooth curves and flourishes without endless tweaking. (I have heard there is now a spiro spline plug-in available for Illustrator). You can do some manipulating (raise, lower, rotate, move sideways) of letters in a word non-destructively. That is, the word remains in font form and spelling can be changed without starting over). The Inkscape tracing tool for vectorizing bitmaps is very useful.
I am slowly learning to use Inkscape, and I really like it, despite some drawbacks.
John M, Do you know Don Kelly in Bartonville? I apprenticed with him in the 70s in the Pekin area. Later I had a small shop in Chillicothe for almost ten years. I have good memories of Big John's Barbecue, though I suppose it's long gone.

I'm not familiar with Don, nor Big John's Barbeque. I'm new to the sign business. I was a tattoo artist/shop owner for 13 years and changed careers 4 years ago when I got into the sign biz. I work in Metamora, but I live in El Paso, so I'm not all that familiar with the Peoria area like I am with Pontiac and Bloomington.
