I miss Rick! I learned so much from that guy. It's hard to believe it's been 12-1/2 years since we lost him--an eighth of a century.

I was blessed to be able to attend one of those Conclave weekends and experience this magic for myself. Rick and Lola and all the others there were amazing!
While we do only surface gilding in our shop I still think of Rick every time we take it out to do some leafing. There's a large wall in our shop that has hundreds of signatures and messages by visiting Letterheads from all over the world on it. The 'wall of fame' was inspired by the similar wall in Rick's shop. His eagerness to share also inspired me to do the workshops we do regularly where we do our best to pass on the knowledge we have gathered through the years.

Si, that is so cool. I hate the fact that I didn't discover this lost art sooner, and that I missed the opportunity to meet the old masters...

Rick was a walking, talking encyclopedia on glass gilding. We who were lucky to know him wish we had spent much more time with him. His knowledge was endless and his personality was flawless.
