Sign is two months old and the LED's on the bottom half of one of the displays is lit solid. I called my supplier, he won't do anything, doesn't know what to do, gives me the number of the manufacturer. I had to go to the jobsite, open up the sign, take a photo of the serial and model number, take photos of the sign/problem/ fill out a form, email the form. Now, all they are going to do is send a new cell/unit for the thing which I will have to disassemble the whole unit and install. I basically will have to remove the whole EMC to do this. Now the manufacturer says my time (which will end up being about 4 hours counting the first trip) isn't covered by their warranty. I guess I should tell my customer this too? NOT. I've about decided to stop installing anything I don't manufacture myself.
This is a photo of the sign before it started messing up. Note* The photo was taken right BEFORE I installed the temp sensor on the outside of the cabinet...It was laying inside, so evidently that was the temp inside.

Almost all my vendor experiences have been bad; the single exception being Gemini Letters. That went very well.

I feel your pain. The warranties always cover replacement of the bad product only, never the labor involved which is usually much more than the material cost. Ask all those shops that had to strip/re-letter vehicles that had the Avery reflective that went bad. If you want to cover yourself you have to write in, a parts warranty exclusive of labor. That's what most of those "lifetime" guaranty from places like muffler shops do, parts only, not the labor.

Hmmm...at least tyou can get into deal with it... I picked up a job on the weekend, where the old immuminated box is impossible to get inside to replace lights. It was built, sealed, and to replace the tubes will involve destroying some part of it, or of the shopping centre ceiling as well. This was made a by another company before I started doing work for this certain business. 16 ft x 16" x 6" - in one piece...
I'll deal with it, but I'm thinking of getting a circular saw and just cutting the face out, then redoing an alupanel front, with 90 degree folded top & bottom edge, and new acrylic push-through letters...
I did climb up insode the ceiling of the shop to look at the back of it from up there - still no solution. I guess the only advantage is they will pay me!
I'll still have to put a join somewhere in the face too - possibly dead centre - or slse use a 10 ft alupanel piece for the middle, and two short 3 ft bits for each end... undecided...
Good luck with your sign, Wayne!
