In two days of exploring I've taken almost 900 pictures. I strongly believe that to be good designers we need to fill our heads with ideas on a constant basis. My intention is not to copy what I see but rather to store away great ideas on which I might draw on in the future. Bits and pieces will be combined in future projects and in the process become original ideas on their own.
Here's four great signs I found today...
The first was in an out of the way area that few guests would find. The sign was genius and full of textures and fun. There are three beavers - one with his head through the bottom of the canoe.
Squeezer's tropical juice bar sign offered plenty of inspirational ideas. The color combination is all new to my brain , the lettering was nothing short of cool and textures abounded. Notice the boards off kilter vertically. And I loved the dimension of course.
The Kingdom Treasure sign offered ideas dripping with pure gold. It offered plenty of ideas in how to dimensionalize a family crest. The bracket is totally awesome as well.
The Baby Mine sign also offered plenty of ideas. I've done dimensional signs that incorporated birds previously but never - until now thought to bring the wings up on both sides of the border to tie it all together and make it stronger. It offers more ideas for cool brackets as well.
Now multiply this by four hundred pictures I snapped today. My head is churning with new ideas and possibilities.
My feet are a little sore from the 11.64 kilometres I walked to do it.

Great ideas, Dan. I think Disney is beginning to copy you.
You are so right about surrounding yourself with good design. All that stuff is stored in the hard drive of your brain and available anytime you want to pull it out. You may not even remember what the original was or where, but the idea is still there...and you think you are a genius for "creating" it.
