I have used light tables for as many years as I've been drawing- my first sign guy that I worked for had a prized possession of a 3'x4' light table he spent over $800 for. When he passed away, I inherited it and I have it mounted in my home studio. The first screen print studio I worked at had a custom built, glass topped light table that I worked over for almost 9 years.
I saw a couple of the new smaller ones at Hobby Lobby, but they were very pricey- I found this one on Amazon for less than $50
