Alicia, first off, I am not in the electrical sign business although I worked for a large shop years ago and the owner was of the mindset that his shop yard which was full of signs that had been taken down for whatever reasons, were his gold mine. I can remember the shop guys reworking something like this and once it is stripped, there were all sorts of problems. Usually everything electrical needed to be replaced and updated to UL standards as well as exterior sheet metal panels dented/rusted.
Personally, I would not touch this thing. It looks like it has been sitting outdoors for a while by all the other junk this hoarder has.
I will price it at whatever the scrap yard will pay.

$50 more than the scrap metal guys will pay. Try to establish its weight and you can make a call. Then comes transporting it. You're a smart girl, you won't get hurt.

At least it's not shaped like a bowling ball or an ice cream cone. The comments above about a little higher than scarp are worth noting. Laws of supply and demand; how much time does the owner have to try and sell the thing? If it's for somebody else, maybe you could first try to peek at its inner workings; then figure how many hours each rebuild step would take, in addition to the hours required for lettering and background paint, plus design and whatever else. It might become evident to the potential buyer that this is not a normal project or cost. OTOH, these old signs look surprisingly good when refurbished, it might make a good tinkering project for you own display. A lot more intelligent than watching TV. Edit: forgot to say, the bit about the Radio shack signs is funny. Stings for them, but maybe fodder for a discussion about why they went out. Internet competition? Kids not interested in that stuff these days? Probably both.

Alicia, you need to find out what the big white panel is covering up. Then check out the inside of the sign. Are the neon transformers still inside, do they work? How about the animator for the travel lamps, is it still there, is it functional? These are the big ticket items, you will need to know. Have fun and Good Luck!
