I'm going to try and post pictures of a sign I was asked about restoring. This guy has a house full of old signs, this kind with a thermometer is his favorite. Anyway, I never got into silkscreening, the few times I dabbled in it, were less than stellar, to put it mildly. That seems to be the most reasonable way to restore this; the little lines are not feasible with paint mask. Think about removing all the little pieces of mask afterward. I did have this thought about running it through a flat bed printer, but that probably would print only on the top surface, not the edges. Even if I could get it printed that way, I'd have to first prep and paint the red, so the edges were done, and using two different methods and shops would be too expensive; not to mention the problem of printing on something other than white. The reason I'm posting is because I'm just wondering if there's something I'm overlooking. Thanks for any help. [/IMG] [/IMG]

James...My best thought is....How were those items produced 50 years ago?
Do the restoration the same way? Using the same process?

Dave that IS the best way...I think they were silk screened. But that's beyond my abilities. I'm just fishing for some different method I might have overlooked.

Awesome! Thanks Alicia. I'll see if I can get the process to work large enough. Maybe Fed-Ex office can print on that material.

water slides can be made on your inkjet desktop printer. now if you have a 13 X 19 printer...it will be big enough. i have some 8.5 X 11 here. did this for a cabinet 6 X 10. [IMG][/IMG]
