I have to mount acrylic track to some MDO plywood for changable lettering. What is the best way to attach it? I tried Gorilla glue and small nails. It pulled away and the acrylic cracked and broke. However the board was painted so the glue pulled the paint loose. I called Gemini and they really didn't have an answer either. So I am turning to the experts on here for suggestions.
Thanks,

I might be very naughty but I just lettered a trailer for the local Lions Club and they wanted nothing to do with holes being drilled.
I had to allow for a menu board so we decided to attach acrylic track to the sides of the trailer and give them a coroplast menu that they can bring in anytime they need changes made to it.
I used double sided banner hemming tape made by Scapa. It's the strongest ds tape I've ever found.
So far it hasn't failed or fallen off the trailer and the Lions insert and remove the menu each time they set up.
The tape is attached to vinyl which was applied to the trailer - I did not attach directly to the metal surface.

I've had problems with the track bowing and cracking when installed on MDO due to substrate expanding and contracting at a different rate than the acrylic track.
My solution has been to drill a series of slots in the track and attached the track with brass screws.
The screws are kept just loose enough for the acrylic to expand and contract on it's own as the weather changes.

I have only done a couple, but did the same as Glenn. Use slotted holes, leave the screws a bit loose for expansion. Make sure you put all the screws in the centers, or all the same end, so it can expand evenly.
Probably like everywhere else, but we see a lot of signs with the letters trying to fall out because of the expansion.
They make the track in aluminum also. I will use it on the next one, pretty sure it will stay put better. Could even be painted the background color.

The best way is to use E6000. It's clear and fast and gives your sign an invisible track bond. I have track I glued 15 years ago still on. I put that Sheet on everything.

Thanks for the tips. That E6000 sounds pretty amazing. I will have to get some. I was wondering will it work on painted MDO however? I already have the MDO painted. I will probably use the slotted method on this job however.
