A customer asked me about some 4'x10' banners for ball team sponsors. He used to get them from the Pepsi Company for "$25 each" with a separate sponsor's name on each; is there such an animal?

Back in the days, many beverage companies used to give away, that kind of banner that you describe, and, also, acrylic sign faces for the lit storefront signs, to their distributors ( usually stores with a storefront ) and we used to call them "courtesy banners or courtesy sign faces"..... Some of the sign faces were, also, on metal panels .......Typically, the measurements of these banners and faces, were 2ft x 6ft or 2ft x 8ft .....A walk in the park.

In both instances, the logo of the beverage ( in full color ) had, already, been silk screened on one end of each banner or sign face......The sign painter just had to hand letter the name of each of the stores, on each banner or panel ( with One Shot black and a quill )......It used to be a nice money maker, for any sign shop, because of the volume of banners and sign faces they gave away to their distributors.........The beverage company would bring the panels, ready to letter, to my shop, and come and pick them up whenever they were ready.

Now, many of these beverage companies, as well as franchise stores, have their own "in house sign department" and just print their own banners...Although, many of them contract outside sign shops to print their banners......like, for example 7/11 does in this area, where I live.

Anyway, Good Luck, Wayne !

Good luck on this one, Wayne; hope it pans out for you. This used to be pretty commonplace.

Not too many of these vendors are doing free stuff for their merchants anymore.

Wayne,

If you just want to buy them, already printed, here is where I would buy printed banners:

http://www.georgiaprintco.com/

They are very reliable and, also, have very reasonable prices.

Good luck !

In my area the local bottler still gives out free banners to non profit organizations, especially if they purchase product. All our summer festivals here get free banners from Pepsi. I usually only change the event dates year after year until they start to wear, then they get another free banner. Most times though the event is buying all their soda to sell from the bottler. I never see Coke banners here, just Pepsi, so most likely it depends on the local bottler whether they are generous and willing to help you promote your event along with their product.

Thanks Dave,
The customer is a rep from the local high school. They had a concessions contract with Pepsi, who recently raised their prices substantially, so they are hunting another vendor and another source for the banner signs as well. Of course I had to check on it for them, pretty much knowing there was no way I could get these 4x10 banners for $25 and make anything on it. Anyway, the guy thanked me and told me he would consider me for any other sign needs in the future. But I'm already a sign supplier for the high school anyway. Thanks

Hiya Wayne,
The banner material is likely a 10 mil polyethylene.

One of the speedy places I used to work for would order blanks in bulk and they were dirt cheap, probably ~$10 - $15 for a 4' x 10'. We would use them for cheap signs only (with no warranty) and, depending on the design/client, sell them for ~$50 to $75

Now though, I did find a price online from bestblanks.com and they would run $19.95. But, at that price, when you add in the time to letter them, you would be better off getting them printed through a wholesaler.

Havin' fun,

Checkers
