I find the whole season to be way too much work. For one thing, I dont know what anybody else wd like for a gift. I always just have to ask my wife what she wants.

Christmas never affects me one way or the other...gave it up years ago...one of the best things I ever did...since I am agnostic I have no desire to celebrate any of the religous holidays...but I totally respect those who sincerely choose to do so...however it is sad to see a day that is meant to be holy turned into such a materialistic fiasco...I want no part of that...giving it up and the craziness that accompanies it has been liberating to me.

Christmas for us was an excuse to buy a new car, so we did. We won't see it or drive it until we return to Ontario in May. It is a long lasting Christmas present to ourselves.
As far as Christmas day was concerned...It was the perfect day to make Eggs Benedict for breakfast, with Baileys Irish cream in the coffee, then spend a couple of hours on the Malecon in Progreso watching and talking to cruise ship folks who arrived.
Then back to the house and watch a typical "tear jerker" Christmas movie on TV and then have a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
The only down side is that we will be eating some variation of turkey for the next week!!! Turkey tostados, turkey tacos, turkey quesadias, turkey sandwiches and finally turkey stew!!! LOL

Rusty, Christmas is a celebration for pagans, sinners and party people. Whoever you gave you the idea it's a religious holiday is beyond clear thinking.. The similarity between religious groups and Santa Claus is comparing apples to almonds in which case they all become just fruits and nuts...

Christmas was never supposed to be the commercialized mess it is now. The Charlie brown special tapped into this decades ago and it has just gone downhill form there.
Here are list of Lies I have to debunk for our kids about Christmas:
Jesus was not born in a Manger (he was laid in one)
Jesus and mary never spoke to the Inn Keeper.
Joseph was returning to his birthplace to pay taxes. Most likely he had family still there to stay with.
Mary did not ride a camel. It was a 4 day walk to thier destination and she most likely got there months before she delivered.
Angels in heaven did not sing at his birth.
Shepards did not watch thier flocks in winter months because there is no grass.
There were no kings delivering gifts, although wise men did come.
I could go on.....
The whole nativity seen does make for a nice story, but it's not true.
Funny what you will find if you actually read the Bible.

Chick-fil-a is a total joke. Real average food. The bread is dry and the chicken not very succulant. I was in Atlanta several years back, painting Wendys and the original restaurant that the chain came from was down the street. I had dinner there, but average at best. The chain is even worse. No idea why it took off and spread so well, but I imagine because they went public and raised alot of dough. My hunch, like alot of other newbies to the fast food line, will be that they will be gone in ten years. No offence, but crummy food.

Even though I didn't like Phil Robertson's remarks he certainly is free to speak his mind...of course I'm also free to have an opinion about his remarks...I thought his anti gay remarks were based on his religion...fair enough...but just because an opinion is based on a religious view doesn't necessarily mean it is ethical or humane...the OT god actually commanded that gays be killed...how could that at any time ever be the right thing to do...also I thought his remarks about blacks were a based on a tremendous ignorance of history and lack of empathy...anyway I think I'll be skipping Chick-fil-a's "Support Phil Day"...his remarks really didn't suprise me all that much...afterall I do live in rural southern Tn. where this way of thinking is not all that uncommon...but fortunately it has diminished greatly in recent years.

Good for you Kel. Was the whole gang at your place? How many Grandkids is that now? Did you make another video like last year? I watched that one over and over and over. If you post a link, I'll watch it again... over and over and over.
