A local church wants some ceiling mounted wayfinding signs. Typical sign would read CHILDRENS NURSERY and this would be a 3mm PVC sign with vinyl or a laser engraved two ply plastic panel...let's say about 4" x 16".

Ideally I'd like a gripper bracket that would hang from the metal ceiling grid leaving the accoustical tile undisturbed. I know there are those little white metal hooks that wrap around the grid blade....but they would require more linkage (hooks)between the sign.

any sources? ideas?

Thanks

Hiya Tony,
In the past, I've used Hang-ups...
http://www.hangups.com/
But, from what I recall of their catalog, everything requires some sort of linkage from the ceiling clip to the sign.
The only other option I have used, that avoids any linkage is a flag mounted sign permanently attached to the wall.

Havin' fun,

Many home improvement stores carry such little brackets... I think they are meant as plant or light hangers.

Might I suggest using 6mm pvc instead of 3mm. The 3mm will bow because of lack of rigidity. I drill holes at the top and use wire looped through securing with crimps, then tile ceiling clips (from hangups) at the top. attach/clamp a holder to your ladder at the height you want and hang them all the same distance from the floor.

4x16inches x6 mm PVC does not weight much.
Id just silicone it up.
Id use 4 layers of 3M VHB-tape in 2 places to keep it in place, then ill give it a silicone "string" in that space between sign and ceiling.
Id put a tape on both ceiling and sign to avoid silicone to stick where it is not wanted.
Overshots may be cut away/tape removed, when silicone is fully dried.

Hangups will have any and everything you can imagine to get this deal done correctly.

Too many choices, in some cases.... [Smile]

Snap=eze Hook Holders. The gap will grip 3mm pvc tightly, you can add a drop of silicone to be sure.

We've also done quite a few with the Snap On Ceiling Grid clips (Lowes and Home Depot have them in the section with the ceiling tiles) and instead of using s-hooks we put a piece of VHB tape between the sign and the clip so the signs are practically flush with the ceiling.
