I have a customer that wants me to cut vinyl lettering for her daughters bedroom ceiling in a spiral around her light fixture. The lettering will be big enough that it will make 3 loops or so. I run Flex-Sign Pro and don't know how to get it to do that. Does anybody know how to accomplish this?

Hi Donald...nice to see you are still around. If you must do it in vinyl....I would lay it all out to scale on my computer, then cut it in sections, tile it....just like any other large decal (you can decide to cut through or around selected letters as the pattern allows, you can cut through a letter for overlapping or , plan it better so there is no overlapping by cutting those select few letters separately.
Gravity will suck to install, but I would tape it in place, peel and stick, then take some aspirin for a sore neck!!!...but then what do I know??? Good Luck.

Donald...I think Susan's suggestion is the best way to get the job done easily...You could spend hours doing a spiral layout on the computer...or use Susan's easy way solution.
3 loops of the spiral will involve cutting elements apart, so just lay it out in a straight line and manually install.

I would do it like Lori suggested. But illustrator has a spiral tool that I would use. Does Flexi have something like that? If so, you should be able to lay it out as fast as you can type.

I would not know how to alter the letter hieght to compensate for the line distance that makes a spiral a spiral though. What a conundrum. That could look wierd as well now that I am thinking it through. Thanks for getting this "Tune" stuck in my head for the rest of the weekend:)

Thanks for the advice. I will try to find the pen tool and path tool that Lori talks about. I am not installing this as far as I know. That is why I wanted to give it to the ladt in a spiral, but we both understand that it will be in multiple pieces. Don, the example of what you did is exactly what she wants it to look like. I've just got to figure out how to do it now.

Donald, I wouldn't have a clue. I can send you a vector spiral, but that won't do you much good unless you can type on a path. Email me if that helps. I'm not on this site every day.

Donald, typing on the path is just a click in Flexi, but I don't know of a spiral tool other than freehand drawing and cleaning it up. Tell us what you found?

What I did is to take the pencil icon and draw the spiral. Use the node tool to smooth them out and in the text line there is the "AB" on a sqiggly line which I figured out will type on the line. It starts typing where you start drawing so take that in to consideration of how the customer wants to read the text whether it goes from the inside out or the outside in.
