I have a quote to paint numerous sheets of Sintra and install gemini letters to the face.
I just wanted to ask if there was a particular "paint" to use, meaning, alkyd enamel? Acrylic paint? (Water based? Oil based?) as well as a particular brnad that you would gravitate to for this paint AND primer.

It's been a good while since I've painted any Sintra too; but if I remember correctly, we didn't use a primer then. Wiped it down with Prep, use a red scuff pad to give it some "bite", and painted it with background enamel (oil)....usually 2 coats. (Chromatic, Ronan, etc.)
If you need to prime first, Zinsser has a great primer (oil), that sticks to about anything. It's called Cover Stain...dries fast, sands nice.

There's also an Adhesion promoter you can get at any Auto Body Supply Shop, it does wonders, sprays on smooth... it's designed to promote adhesion on just about all plastic surfaces...including Bumpers, I use it for Goalie masks and Plastic Bike Parts.

I have had really good success by thoroughly degreasing the sintra/pvc with SimpleGreen concentrate then painting with Ben Moore waterbased DTM. It adhers stronger than you would ever guess.
