Jeff, not sure if this helps but we similarily did lettering around a pool, long ago, and sealed it with a clear non slip paint-like liquid. Your challenge is that cement isn't always smooth and you'd almost be better off cutting a stencil and painting them on, then seal them up. The non stick 'clear coat' (let's call it) can be got at a pool supply store.

Just lay down a large stamp pad and maybe one will walk through? Maybe sprinkle some beef jerky around the pool?
I think something more impressive would be to make up some cement castings of some fake Bigfoot feet and lead them up to the pool in the grass.

There is a 3M product for crosswalks; but it's only available through regional distributors, not 3M itself. I think they didn't want to deal with me because I was a small company, but maybe that's just my perception.

Gerber makes a product called "FloorMinders" specifically for floor graphics. It can be cut to shape in a plotter and applied with an overlaminate for durable protection. More information at:
