I stop in for a moment and I realize by everyone's pictures that time has stood still for those of you I know. Gee, How do you do it? I still have a room full of equipment, brushes, glass, software but for the most part I am done with sign work.

This is all due to my shop flooding back in 2005 and I got really sick from working in black mold. I'm hanging in there but it has taken a toll on my body and so all good things must come to an end. I really miss everyone, all the meets that I went to and those late nights sitting around and singing while someone played guitar. Most were very gracious to me and you guys and gals taught me a lot about the trade.

I hope this find everyone in good health and spirit.

Hi Laura....I guess most of us choose to keep the same profile pictures so we can feel as young as we were when they were taken!!!! [Big Grin]

I see you have changed your "location" from Lapeer to Attica. I guess that is related to closing your shop?

Sorry to hear of your health issues.

Shirl and I retired 5 years ago and have been happily spending most of the years in Mexico. This is a special year for us, we get to officially become permanent residents of Mexico!

As for work....About a year after retiring, I was obliged to fulfil a promise to a friend and lettered his boat. I had Ken Henry cut the lettering and I did the application of the lettering. I hated every second on the ladder and swore that it was the last job I would ever do!!! It is so strange because I always loved the business.

Very sorry to hear of your misfortunes, Laura. That mold can do bad things to you.

Yeah, I think we all keep those 'years old' pictures on here, so we can imagine ourselves today, looking like we did then.

I'm semi-retired, but work when I want. I've been trying to steer away from the generic crap, and focus on doing the work I love, custom work. It's slow around here; this is not a wealthy demographic; but I try to give folks 'a little extra',and I've stayed pretty busy.

It's good to hear from you, on here, again. I hope that you come thru your health issues OK, and that your retirement will be a good one.

Aw shoot, the truth is, I'd love to update my picture; as I've since grown a beard. But I want to renew my memebership first, it's the least I could do for what can be had here. Alas, the money always goes somewhere else first, "Guess you know the tune".
My first thought was that the reason we're still here is that we ain't got nothin' else to work on, signs is all we know. Then I realized I'm diversifying some. Restoring a wooden caboose now, have been asked to build a post and beam type barn in the next couple months, but making signs is the core that leads to other things. Is there any other trade as diverse as the sign trade?.
Good to hear from you.

Hi Laura!!

We all must follow life's bends in the road but we sometimes get back on the main path at least to say hello; I wondered how you are doing, and keeping busy myself staying away from the chemicals in the paint and vinyl for a while, still miss and will be working on signs in the near future more steadily. Take care! Let lettervillians know how you are!
