This is my very first venture into the wonderful world of stone masonry (and quite likely my last) I was initially excited to add another facet to my sign repertoire with this manufactured stone base, but after about the third batch of mortar the thrill was gone.....

Bravo! And the top is perfectly level. I was lining it up with the bumper of your truck.

I don't know,...that one stone looks a little out of place.
Sonny a few years back I had a sign to do for a dentist and I sat down with him after researching the faux stone process and was really excited about doing it. So excited that by the time I got done explaining the process to him, he said "you know, that sounds fun, I think I will do the stone and you make the sign" He did and he did a great job. Me bummed and still have not done it. Great job!

Yes, masonry is not all its cracked up to be. My husband Clare has had a masonry business now since 1988. He says his arms are getting longer. But you did a mighty fine job Sonny. Great Work.

Thanks y'all - the sign goes up this week, also another first for me as it will include an LED message board - not my realm of expertise and certainly out of my comfort zone, but the biz has changed (at least for me) since the recession.....

Sonny...nice job...over the years I've designed around 30 signs with masonary...mostly small stuff around 10'...I have a good subcontractor who will travel within a 100 mile radius...when I show up to install my sign his work is always to specs and a perfect fit...he is good and I'm lucky to have found him...but once I designed a brick sign that was over 30' long...it incorporated 5 different angles, 2 arches, and 4 columns...to keep cost down I offered to be his helper on the job...when we finished I realized just how much of a good deal he was giving me on his labor...I remember it being hard work but fun to be a part of building it...I've always connected with natural elements but for some reason I've always used brick...however this year I have 2 natural stone designs submitted...I hope they turn out as nice as your intial venture into the unknown has...nice job.

Looks great Sonny. Can't wait to see the finished sign. BTW how long did it take you to do the stone base? I figure it would takes me about a week.
