I'm on LinkedIn, but quite frankly, I don't get it. I've never gotten any business or even a referral, so what's the point? Does anyone see this as a viable service, or just a waste of time?

I'm with you, Sonny. I keep getting blurbs from them "Do you know .....?" or "......... is wanting you to come and join." For what reason?
I don't see anyone talking about any gains or job opportunities they've gotten, and frankly, I've got a life. I don't have all day to spend on the web (ask my wife). I don't mess with Facebook either, for the same reason.
I guess some have done OK on Facebook, but I've got enough going on now, to not want to complicate my life any further, in my twilight years.....heheheheh.

I agree too. Although I'm never really on it. I would imagine to a certain extent you get what you put in, but if people aren't there then what's the point.

I wondered the same thing until I got my first customer. We've done three nice dimensional jobs now for that same customer (another sign shop) who I had never even heard of until they contacted me on LinkedIn. I admit they're the only customer so far, but every little bit helps.
I've also sold several jobs on Facebook and the first one wasn't even a 'friend' at the time. I'm doing a $1300 one right now for another Facebook customer..

LinkedIn is a networking tool. I see it used a ton in high-tech companies, real estate, sales, banking etc.

I don't really understand it myself but beefed mine up regardless because my online presence is larger than my offline one. Can't hurt to be seen by the right online contacts I figure...
Please PLEASE make yours interesting with pictures! Just words are so... wordy.

Laughing to much to think of what to say lol lol . . . . . . . Ok on a positive side on Linkedin like Kimberly said it is a marketing tool.
Since I'm not looking for work off of everything, I use Linkedin to learn from reading from several groups of questions & answers & to keep my presence on net in front of possible customers or people met in life.
