I have never lettered an awning. It will be made from reinforced vinyl, I believe the brand is Beratta. It is supposed to be good for vinyl graphics. My question is: Can it be lettered before it is assembled, or should I wait until after it is installed and the weather warms up to 50F?

If you can get it indoors, before it's installed, and it can be warmed up a bit, I'd say go ahead and put the letters on.
Outdoors, in the cold, I'd maybe have some reservations about how well they'd stick. Or depending on where the awning is on the building, if you could get to it on a warmer day, and the sun was shining on it for awhile, then go for it.

The man making the awning said it would be no problem applying the lettering to the awning either before it is assembled or after it is made but before installed. It will be applied indoors. If I apply it before it is installed, Will there be a problem of the lettering stretching out of shape when they put the awnng over the frame?
yes, Roger, I always use Rapid tac to clean before application.

Having worked in an awning shop in the sign shop division I doubt stretching of the vinyl signage will be as much of a problem as applying the vinyl before the awning is mounted to the frame make sure they give you a clean place to work and be very very sure of the alighnment of the awning before you start your application,....

i was able to letter the awning, on the frame , indoors, before it was installed. The only problem was, the lettering was on an arch. I plotted a pattern, but the shape of the radius wasn't the same as what I plotted. So I had to do a little modification. It was a learning experience. I woild charge more next time.
