I have a customer who wants to replace a plexiglas face. The size is 6ft x 10ft. and has to be 3/16 flat, not embossed. What would be a fair square foot price for 2 faces vinyl lettered and installed.Bottom of sign is 4ft off ground.

First, what will the design look like - how many colors, etc.?
Second,I would shy away from acrylic because a sheet that size can very easily crack or shatter in a good gust of wind without proper supports.
Third, if the cabinet was designed and built to accept a 3/16" flat acrylic panel, how was it installed? As Brian notes, you might need hanger bars and who knows what else. So, do you need to include the expense of a 3rd sheet of acrylic just to make some hanger bars or do you have some scrap kicking around the shop?
With all that being said, I would be in the ballpark of $15 - $20 a square foot for a basic design - depending on the quality and color of the vinyl chosen. And around Wayne's price if I put some effort into the design - which would include a multi-colored layout and high performance translucent vinyl.
Installation would be additional and depend on the length of the trip and accessibility of the sign. However, it would likely not be less than ~$350.

Right, my quote was for polycarb, not acrylic. Even at 3/16" a flat face that size going to have alot of deflection. That's one of the reasons for using pan-formed faces.

I would not do it unless it was pan formed, it is too large for a flat face. If they are not willing to pay the extra I do not want the liability of it blowing out. We are the experts and should not have the customer tell us how this should be done. I would be at $30+/sqft for custom pan face depending on art colors ect.
Install would be hourly + materials with a minimum of one hour and I would be charging travel one-way.
Good Luck. Let us know what happens.

Hey Bill, If they're real penny pinchers, you may want to entertain a flex face system. Eve with the cost of the retrofit frame, the cost is extremely competitive when compared to acrylic or polycarbonate. I'm sorry to say I can not recommend a system because I haven't done on yet. But, there are many available.

Not to mention, there are no 10ft bulbs in this sign and they don't have a clue if it burns or not. What do you guys think of this.Build 2 6x10 alum frame signs and attach to the sign cabinet.Talk them into high output ground floods. This could be up their price alley.
