Steve, re your decision to ban talk about hemp and religion --- just to clarify, I take it you mean that topics one thinks might provoke some people are to be avoided, but that you dont mean nothing shd be brought up that isnt sign-related? I just happen to be looking at a printout I saved of Tips and Tricks from the Letterville CookBook that Barb posted.

Actually, my post entitled "dude...how much marijuana..." was a tongue in cheek reference to the original "dope thread", but in the post I asked a direct question concerning how to do something and only one person, as I recall,(Donald Miner) gave a serious answer to it. Likewise, I also am willing to help and to share what limited 'sign knowledge' tips when I can. But over the last 13+ years I don't recall ever noticing any individual changing his/her own views on religion, ethics, or politics as the result of any of these arguments. My bad for getting involved.
I really have no right to complain as I've been blessed with a great deal of help and advice from this very site over the years. Thank you Barb and Steve and everyone else who has helped me on this forum. BTW, I spoke with Kellie Miller, of Coastal Enterprises, and she answered my question. Thank you again, Kellie and Donald.
Dennis, alot of culinary things which could be "sign related", There are gold leafed wedding cakes and, since some of us work with CNC, there are even CNC machines which can make "chocolate graphics"

Ensuring one remains among the living is beneficial to signmakers.....because you can't make signs if you are dead. So, I hope that my advice on 'standing your ground' in movie theaters has been helpful to some.
PS - I haven't had any movie theater confrontations for quite some time. I finally figured out that if I simply go to the theater located near Michigan State University where intellectuals such as I dwell; the crowd is completely different and not predisposed to pre-dawn humanistic behaviors.
The formula is simple: Don't patronize movie theaters that have a scheduled 'stop' from a city bus route.

On topics of Faith and Politics we all must all write and read of these things with sensitivity and restraint. If you are not able to take the fall out you should niether read them or write about them. It is a quirk and a observable fact of human nature; very few of us like to hear this statement, "You are wrong". When we add several valid points of why we are wrong. It is at that point that so many of us jump to the personal attack mode. We are all multi-dimensional people I appreciate a general rule that says every topic should be sign-related but we all know that would be so very boring if possible at all. The best answer is to report offensive posts to the administrator and leave things to his discretion. That is what an administrator does. It simply isn't cut and dried.

This is a fun topic, from where I am watching..of course.
Don't you, guys, get it, yet?........Especially, those of you ( you know who you are ), so full of "yourselves" and with such exploding egos, as the one who has declared himself to be an intellectual....the other one who, truly, believes that he holds the book of the truth, in his hands, and boldly suggests we call the "cops" ( Steve ) to report these offensive posts.......Don't you get it ?.......Guys we are being set up and provoked by the Master Provocateur, from San Francisco ......non other than Dennis, who will, skillfully, push you into the hands of that smooth Master of delicate verbal abuse....The Great Rusty......who will take you down from your intellectual pedestal.....and, then, you are done!
Wake up guys !!......You have been had......again!!

Si...it took a second take for me to get the "stoned" pun...I'm a little slow today but a pretty clever interpretation on your part.
I'm familiar with the Mosaic Code...over 600 laws...and many were similar in nature to the one you posted here...pretty barbaric by our standards today...but remember they do date back to the early Bronze Age...some 3300 years ago...so naturally they would reflect the level of civilization back then...it was a time characterized by historians as semi-barbaric...and it was quite barbaric when you realize that they would actually throw rocks into the bodies of people until they were dead just because they were gay...today we see that gay people are more and more accepted and gay marriage is even legal now in several states...you've come along way baby.

Dale, the word "racist" is now only a political term used to shut up people who you don't agree with. It no longer has any other meaning or use.

I like David's remark...it's true we're just a bunch of kids...myself included...who just cant help themselves...but it's fun being a kid...just as long as you don't take yourself too serious.

Rusty, racism still exists. Just the words "racism" and "racist" have been hijacked by the politicians. Mentioning Chicago or food stamps, etc., are now called racist, for crying out loud. Even mentioning $4 million taxpayer funded Hawaiian vacations or $600 tennis shoes is probably considered racist now.
So, I suppose that if people want to discuss racism, they will need to come up with another word for it to avoid confusion.

Before anyone says Todd's taking this away from signs to politics, just keep in mind that on this issue many will think he's painting with a pretty broad brush...

Bobby Sherman
Being openly gay in the 1960s wasn’t unheard of, but for a Hollywood star or popular singer it was still scandalous. Although Rebel Without a Cause star Sal Mineo came out of Hollywood’s closet, his protégés — like the innocent, aw-shucks Bobby Sherman, famous for playing sweetie pie Jeremy Bolt on late 1960′s sitcom Here Come the Brides — didn’t always follow suit. Mineo’s 2011 biography revealed that the actor’s longtime girlfriend reportedly caught Mineo in bed with Sherman sometime after he took the young hopeful under his wing to help start Sherman’s singing career.

Rusty, there was a story in the news today about a 15-year-old Afghan girl being beheaded because she refused to marry the guy her father had picked out for her. I guess the Bronze Age isnt over yet.

Ricardo - nice try... the california crowd may have tried to convert him, but apparently, it didn't stick. From Wikipedia:
Personal life
Sherman was born to father Robert Cabot Sherman Sr. and mother Juanita "Nita" Sherman (née Freeman) in Santa Monica, California. He grew up in Van Nuys, California along with his sister Darlene. Sherman was married to Patti Carnel from 1971-1979. The couple divorced. They had two sons, Christopher and Tyler, born in the early 1970s. Christopher and Tyler are both married and have children of their own, making Sherman a grandfather of five. Sherman married long time girl friend Brigitte Poublon July, 18, 2010 and together they have a humanitarian foundation called The Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children's Foundation.
