Hi guys. I haven't gone to a meet in years, and its been too long! I'm talking to my 15 year old about going to a meet next year & spending some "guy time" with him. Is there an International meet in the works yet for '13?

Felix...I seems to me, and I might be incorrect, that Walldog meets seem to have taken over from Letterhead meets in the last few years.
Still as interesting and fun, but on a larger scale, so to speak.

I think that Letterhead meets were better than Walldog meets.
I miss them.

There are ten times as many pinstriping meets where lettering is involved as well, than all the letterhead and wall dog meets combined. These meets are all over the country today...

Joey, is Pinstripers' Lounge the main place to find out about them, or somewhere else? I'm looking seriously about a brief visit to UK & North America early-mid June to early July 2013...

Ian, I know you are on facebook. There is Stripers, Pinstripers Garage, Ontario Pinstripers and Friends and a few others which give info on meets both in the U.S. as well as the U.K.
Hope this helps with your search..

I couldn't agree more. Working off a scaffold on a rough wall in the middle of summer is something I pass on if I'm getting paid. The working for nothing makes no sense at all no matter how many times it gets explained. The Pinhead meets where items are raffled off and the money goes to a deserving charity make more sense to me. I'm looking into making one of them soon.

Well, after giving it some thought, I'm going to pass on the Kenawee meet (Kind of the same reasons as George- No offense to Walldogs!). But if someone decides to do another letterhead meet, please let me know! (Except for December 2013, as we're planning on going to Australia).

Having hosted a couple Walldog meets and 1 international Letterhead meet, I can tell you the reason why at least the international meets are not happening, "They're a lot more monetary risk than a Walldog meet." There's been some hosts who've really loss. The smaller letterhead meets are still going on, though.

Felix, the next Letterheads meet in Australia, will actually be a wall & mural meet, at Eugowra, (central NSW) probably in October 2013! I'm thinking it'll be a no-fee meet, but I'm not really sure what Chris has in mind-maybe a bit of bioth types in the one meet...?

No kidding?! Well, we don't have a set date in mind, although I've been keeping in touch with Rod Tickle, and he suggested going in December. The main purpose to go to Oz is to surf (small waves, 6' max) and scuba dive the great barrier reef. How will the water be in October? Remember, I get cold in Florida!

OK Felix, maybe I'm wrong about that Letterheads date-received a message last night that it's not as I thought it was going to be, and the potential host can't do it anymore...
Therefore, I wonder if we can talk Rod Tickle into hosting it, at his place, which is near the beach, maybe in December!

Being here in Oz, I would love to go to a meet, but I can't justify the cost! I miss them as well.

I've been to many Letterhead meets and a couple of Walldog ones, enjoyed both kinds tremendously, learned a bunch at all of them, and highly recommend both.
However, nothing will replace my first Letterhead meet, Mike Jackson's Oklahoma Bash in 1982. It was a life and career changing experience. While gawking at all the amazing work there, I felt like Howard Carter at King Tut's tomb when he was asked, "Can you see anything?" Carter replied, "Yes, wonderful things."
I saw and learned so many wonderful things and have used and expanded on the techniques demonstrated for the last thirty years... all except for the hand lettering, of course!
I really miss the Ol' Time Letterheads meets. I just might have to make it to Birmingham if it happens.

Tentative date for Birmingham is March 23 2013. I say tentative because I'm still working logistics, lodging and an unknown variable of my Marine Son being deployed again. I hope to have all things worked out as soon as possible, and will post it as soon as I etch it in stone.

Looking forward to a southern Dixie Letterhead meet like the first one that Mark Fair hosted. That is where we met you and Anthony! What Don?? You can't have a Dixie meet without boiled peanuts, can ya?
