I just bought a new Roland GX-24 plotter...I also use Coreldraw 13...I'm finding that I can now plot directly from corel, but I don't see where I set my plotter origin so that it starts at a fixed point (e.g. bottom right hand corner) Am I right? Can I plot from Coreldraw 13? How do I set the origin? Thanks

most plotters have sensors that either "a" find the edge of the material in relation to the sensors which are either on the pinch wheel locations and or light sensors that when covered by the material do not allow light to be seen by photo sensors. They sense when they poll the media(run a section back and forth on boot to find the edges) or find the location of the pinch wheels as the knife carriage moves back and forth during the boot or online sequence, this point is usually set in stone within the internal programming of the plotter setup and should be addressed in the operators manual...the other option "b" is to designate an origin manually by using the keypad sequence along with manually moving the knife carriage and media to the origin point.the process should be addressed in the operators manual....either way if you intend to use the machine, not to be a smarta$$, it would seem practical to read the operators manual which would have and should have answered these questions for you,..on alot of the newer machines the manual is on the setup disk in pdf form or you can download it from rolands support site

yes you can plot/cut direct from corel draw.
if your cx-24 has a similar keypad as my CX-300
there is a button says ORIGIN.
if you go to www.rolanddg.com
go to DOWNLOAD:
depending on your OS, d/l the driver say for XP IT IS:
camm1_winxp_32.zip (442KB)
when you go to setup in it, it has a display of ORIGIN it will cut.

John...It has been almost 5 years since I have used a Roland cutter, but they have always worked well to cut from CorelDraw! Just have to have the correct driver and know how to set up the CorelDraw page to match the cutter.

Joe and Tim know their stuff. [Applause]
