So,.... just wondering what everyone seems to like these days...
Lettering/Sign Enamel? Hand Paint vs. Spray? Clear? Vinyl? Posts?
Over the last few years we've had disasters happen regarding the finish products of our signs.
Enamel - good bye One Shot. Trying Ronan, but doesn't seem to lay like the good old one shot did 15 yrs ago. Still have signs out there that I painted with Lettering enamel from 14 yrs ago. I believe (not sure) that Chromatic bought One Shot or Vs. Versa.
Spray vs. Hand Paint - I think spring seems the way to go. Using totally different products. Maybe Matthews?.... PPG?.... Will have to look into Automotive.
Clear - same as One Shot. Made the mistake of using clear - both One Shot and Frog Juice. Just didn't work out for us. Didn't need it years ago.
Posts - pressure treated are a mess. Cedar seem to be cracking lately. Just not the same because of all the new laws - have to use metal or figure something else out - maybe a fypon on face?.... not sure.
Vinyl - what a mess. Now set on Orecal as far as I can see.
HDU - always like SignFoam, not into Presciosion Board - don't get that nice finish for some reason. Heard about a new Duma (I think) board.?...?
Maybe I am not looking in the right spots for information. (mags, etc...)
If anyone has any suggestions of how to find out how to use the Best Products let us know.
Interested in hearing what you use.

I don't do a lot of painted stuff...but on here a few years ago, some said Sherwin Williams super paint was good...and the SherClear at the clear coat. I have a few signs done using these paints from 2007. Will be going by there this week to look at another job, so I will check to see how they are holding up. Sherwin Williams also has a nice color chart fan that you can match colors from. Just be forewarned that any color that has a triangle with an "I" in it, means interior only. My customer had to re-select their color choice due to picking an interior only color the first time.

As we all know, I stil use 1-Shot,,but,, I have to also add hardener into it. And on trucks, pinstrping, most stuff I have to double or sometimes even triple coat it. I'm thinking of trying to add a automoitve harener to 1-Shot to see if it works better than the hardener put out by 1-Shot. Maybe the same type of harden used in Irom or similar product. Right now at this point of time, automoitve finshes are great. But in 10 years, it might be all water-based as well. For vinyl. I mostly use 3M. And sometimes I need special colors, so I use AAAAvery. Hey and guess what product really seems to last,,,white corex!

Dan S. mentioned Modern Masters paint, well just used it on 2 signs One was on a painted lt. sand colored block wall a blue & black main colors blue is more transparent, but very rich in color, black was super rich in color. 2nd sign was a re-painting of a fish both blue and black worked great for this mixing white, or together was awesome colors and fish looked real.
