OK, I know it's not an Antonelli or Diaz masterpiece, but it does what I need, which is a basic portfolio and contact site. I tried to learn HTML awhile back and realized quickly it just wasn't my thing, so I swapped a window lettering job for a design and host deal, but the lady left town and took my site with her. I needed to get something out there and I ran across this: www.weebly.com (link to my site is in my signature line below)
It offers completely free web hosting and do-it-yourself design. I couldn't believe how simple it was and once I got the hang of it, I even designed a site for our neighborhood in about an hour. It has many templates to work with and utilizes a simple drag and drop format. No coding necessary.
The free package includes unlimited pages, pictures, etc. that can be uploaded in 5 mb files. If you choose the paid option (about 4 bucks a month) you can upload music, video, and other goodies of unlimited size. Again, it doesn't compete with a pro design like Dan A. or Ben & Joe, but for absolutely free, it ain't bad.....

As the fortune teller said, the signs are good. I just wish your slideshow had a way to pause it so you cd peruse a particular sign more closely.
Why does Weebly have such a lame logo?

Thanks, but I wasn't fishing for compliments, just letting people like me who don't have the wherewithal for a big-bucks site know there's an alternative that might suffice. I also hope I didn't step on any site designer's toes - not my intention. Dennis, there's a pause button on the slide show, but all the signs are also in the gallery - click on the pics for a larger view. I'll continue adding content and captions and delve into the mysteries of SEO, but again, it serves mainly as a portfolio for potential clients. I had some reservations about loading it up with so many photos, but I figured the more, the merrier.....

Hey Sonny, sorry this is not a question related to the post. What was "The Typography Shop" Did they sell lettering supplies or did they supply photolettering?
Thanks!

Charles, the Typography Shop was a printing company - they had some heirloom Heidelberg presses from back in the day. David, that's the mural we just did in Wisconsin this summer. The plane was restored by an 85 year old pilot who lived a block from the wall - he flew over twice that weekend and tipped his wings. Hopefully, you can make it to Illinois in June and help me paint an Amish buggy with flames - we'd probably do more laughing than painting - nothin' wrong with that.....

Sonny - I'm wasn't able to open your site in Mozilla Firefox or on Internet Explorer.... yet I don't have problems opening any other web page.... others didn't have a problem, so it must be on my end...
Did something go 'ka-flooey' with it tonight? I'd like to check it out.

Meat and potatoes website. Way better than many out there. Just like most vehicle wraps, the message often gets lost. Your message is clear. You make effective signs!

Glad the sun came out and dried up that Chaplin Park mural...it looked a tad weepy for a while. Amazing how you could knock that one out while awaiting your first officiating of a marriage ceremony! I'm suprized it doesn't have the Sawatzky wiggly line look. Nice collection of work, the site looks good. I suspect it might not have as effective SEO, but if you are using it as a portfolio for clients I don't suppose that matters much.
