Try not to offend try not to be too easily offended.
If I knew that something that I was doing was really eating at my neighbor, something that really was as meaningless to me as window decal: I'd probably pull the sticker off. Out of simple courtesy.
This man may not be as sophisticated as the crowd. About the meaninglessness of sexy women, arching their backs in stilettos as their tiny little pieces point skyward. Images such as these, no matter how stylized, should be openly expressed to everyone including small children, after all we wouldn't want them to thing that anything might be considered inappropriate in an open society would we?
I cannot see myself being so miffed that I tried to get the authorities involved over this.
Want a good neighborhood? Be a good neighbor. That could mean considering a the feelings of someone who is weaker rather than always asserting your wants over someone else's. Even in the name of free speech. Do we really need to wrap this issue in the constitution?
I guess we do as we all are prone to be carried off in enthusiams.

I have to disagree Bob if it's sometimng I want and it brings me a little joy, screw who has a problem with it. It may seem insensitive but aren't we all sick and tired of people being offended by something and being able to make them stop?
Now if I saw wsomething that offended me I would keep my mouth shut because it's none of my business

It is surprising how titilating this simple little silhouette is...or at least it was for me...so at 62 to react to such a simple shape must mean my hormones are still "kicked in"...but I'm very careful about passing judgements on such matters...I'm not prudish or religious by any means...but I feel there are limits to free expression in an open society...although there are many things about western culture that I find distrubing and decadent...there is no way I would expect or force others to comply with personal decisions or beliefs I make for myself...this is really "small potatoes" given the monumental problems we face.

Howdy, there are so many versions of Flo Mills Mudflap Girl. Some are cute, like mine with the sombrero and some are kinda weird looking. And some are posed kinda sluty, you've seen them. As far as being visually offensive, have you been to Walmart lately? Most of the silhoettes I see there are very offensive to my eyes and my inner self of being a human on this Earth. It's "Like a fricken cattle drive!"

It's pretty hard to avoid offending someone. The Skin Design is way too ordinary to rate being on your vehicle, but the guy who thinks it's "sacrilegious" is obviously going to be offended by most of the world around him. Back in the early 60s you'd see lots of people in Greenwich Village going barefoot during the summer. Some of the old Eastern European immigrants wd get highly offended by young people voluntarily going without shoes. To them, the young ones were demeaning themselves because only the poorest people could not afford shoes. To them, surviving and looking like you were surviving was serious business.

I always loved the human body in full; but then again, so did Leonardo, Michelangelo, Bottecelli, (did I spell his name right), Matisse, oh get out of here!
It's not the nakedness, it's the absence of baring the soul that is offensive to me..the covering up of truth and love and sensuality...
all in it's proper form of course, what is proper in your own little world, art, perception the placement of things, that's what I believe.

Let's face it. This image of a woman, nipple in tact, placed abouve the word "skin", is meant nothing more than to be erotic. An individual may not like what they see, however, it is a freedom of speech issue. LOCAL ordinances and laws should handle these things.

Paint a mural of it on your living room wall if you want to and gaze at it to your heart's content if it makes you happy. But why do you want ME to see it? Hey...Hitler had 'freedom of speech'. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I agree with Wayne. I was in traffic behind a pickup that had really bad decals on the back window 10 times worse than this. What about little kids that see this? Come, let's grow up a little. They act like little boys in high school that have no common sense.
I heard on the news that Los Angeles is trying to decide whether to make eating in the nude in public places ILLEGAL. They are siting health issues. You mean it is legal to walk around that place with no clothes on????

Rusty, we're probably 100% on this but come to it through a different matrix that's all. As I said perhaps too vaguely...Try not to offend (unneccessarily) and Try hard not to be too easily offended. The unfortunate thing with the second half of the statement is that niether extreme ever quits pushing. Therefore both ends see any movement as one more tiny step towards loss. Again I ask what is more noble? Sacrificing a small want out of love or demanding your absolute right over a very small matter. If this had been an issue of religius or political speech, I'm sure That we would agrree again, Rusty but hold a more libertarian or dare I say liberal view. Liberal in the classic sense.

Bobbie said it best: some folks need to "grow up a little". I think deep down inside some issues like this have little to do with "freedom of speech" or on the flip side "shielding the children". I think people just don't have anything better to do with their lives and want to stir up trouble.
On one side you have folks who are just looking to be offended, who are overly sensitive to things that don't even register to most normal people. And on other side you have people that know that the other group of people exists and for some reason gain some sort of pleasure from purposely pushing their buttons. They often go a bit too far with no regard for others, and will go out of their way to get a rise out of someone. They then fall back on the same old "political correctness" is attacking "freedom of speech" tired argument when they are called out. And the bickering back and forth ensues.
There are varying levels in-between that we all fit into, but like most other things, it's the extremes on either end that cause the most commotion and try their hardest to suck everyone else into something that doesn't really matter that much in the grand scheme of things.
Most normal people would be able to work through an issue like this without the fanfare, the authorities and the press being pulled in. Some people need to grow up and find better things to do with their time.
