I have a client that wants to put logos on some Yeti coolers. I have contacted Yeti to find out what the costs are but was wondering after seeing a YouTube video on how they do it, if I could do it myself.
He looks to be applying a regular decal, but it must be some type of heat activated ,material that melts into the plastic.
My client gets Yeti coolers at a decent price already and me making the decals and them applying them may save some money.
Anyone have any insight on this?

Hi Tony, I think you've got a specialized process, that might require input from a vinyl 'specialist'.
This being the weekend, traffic here is rather sparse, so doubt if you'll hear much before Monday or.......
In the meantime, you might want to try to call or email Fellers, or 3M, or Avery.....some of the experts, and see if you can get any info on this process.
Most of the suppliers have a heat-set vinyl that you can put clothing/fabric; but on plastic, I don't know. Good luck!!

That's pretty darn cool. I'll ask my 3M rep about it next week and see what he says. I wonder what the imprinting method onto the material is (screen print, thermal or inkjet).
Yea, it's something in the vinyl that melts into the plastic. It may not be vinyl at all who knows.

How much were they for the company to do them- that may be your best bet all around- I wouldn't want to destroy one of the coolers just to save a few cents...
a few years a go, the company that I worked for at the time got a large contract to imprint mousepads for MCI- My boss insisted that we would figure out a way to do them, even though he didn't have a clue- so we bought blank mousepads and tried and tried to get a decent sublimated image on them- we eventually figured out a way, but it was costly and we were losing money on each print--we ended up delivering over 10,000 pieces to MCI, but I would guess that we ruined at least a couple of thousand in the process and lost even more in profit- toward the end of the project, I did some more research and we found out that the company that sold us the blank ones would have imprinted them for about $0.05 more than a blank one... lesson learned: you don't have to reinvent the wheel on every project...

I'm with you there Mike, but the way the video looks, it's just a special vinyl and a heat gun. Other than that I wouldn't be trying to do it. Looks too easy:)
