Bill's Dad, William Lopez Diaz, died last night at 2:08. Many of you met him at the walldog meet or during some of the meets we've had at our shop. He was going to be 90 on the 23rd and the family had a party planned for months now. He started last Christmas, reminding us all that he was having a party on his 90th and he expected everyone to be there! Now the funeral is planned for his birthday. He almost made it...short a week. He was in a nursing home here in town but pretty active right to the end. We had him over ever Thursday night for supper and Bill did lots of trip to here or there when he needed to get out. He was quite a character! Bill's two sisters were here all this week, one for Colorado and one from Boston, and got to see him while he was still "awake". He spent the last few days sort of out of it but they all took turns sitting with him. I just thought all our friend here on letterville would like to know about Grandpa Bill. He was involved in the architect side of construction all his life and a pretty talented guy. He was a "problem solver" who liked a challenge. He was highly thought of by all who knew him.

Please accept my deepest condolences. Apples don't fall far from trees and knowing what character Bill is, I am sure his Dad was a top notch guy.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss. From the sound of it, I think he might be the kind of person that would want you all to treat the funeral as a celebration...a celebration of his life and all that he accomplished. My best to your family.

So sorry for your loss, Jill. He sounds amazing.
I love that you had a 'schedule' set with him. We did the same with my mom. I smile and think of her every time I drive into town towards her direction. We actually eat out regularly where we use to take her and always say hi to her when there. Some (good) habits are a little hard to break.

My sincere condolences, and I remember who he was at Pontiac, but didn't meet up with him. Michael played harp at the retirement home for his friend, but we didn't get to touch base, although our thoughts are with you now,
so sorry about your loss and the tough days ahead
