Here's a new reality TV show we should start up. Here's our first contestant.
The speedway gave someone $900 to make this two sided sign. Volunteers from the race track installed it. Isn't it a beauty?
BTW, below is the design I quoted them three years ago, but they decided to put their money into asphalt at the time. The old sign finally fell apart this year. But in the mean time the entire racing board has changed and it's obvious to me this new board knows nothing about projecting a good image and promoting their sport. So I'll have to wait a couple years for this sign to start fading & peeling and maybe then I'll have another crack at it.

My bid from 3 years ago was $1750 for aluminum panels and $1100 for a wrap, and whenever I did a project like this they gave me a season pit pass. I used to do all their signs until this new racing board came along.

Looks like one of those cases where someone has more money than brains, or just maybe, Gee my nephew needs to pay a speeding ticket, and he could use $900 to help pay the fine.

I find that pretty suprising. I've seen a lot of changes in the racing community over the past twenty years. Back in the days of paint there were three of us that did almost all the cars. Now there are about twnety people doing graphics. The prices have plummeted and MANY cars are done for free or little to nothing.I can pretty well guarantee if one of the tracks around here needed a sign somebody would donate it, possibly for a little advertising. Yes, I would agree with you, the board up there knows NOTHING!

What's wrong with it? So I needed some extra cash while vacationing in Michigan. And that big negative space in the middle was where they were going to let me put my business' name for giving them a discount.
Oh, I forgot to say, Old Paint was vacationing with us so that's why it's leaning to the right.

Wow Dave, as the wife of a racer, (quarter mile races mind you) I don't think I would want my husband to go to that track. It doesn't look safe. In fact, it looks like someone under 20 runs it, and it may be illegal. Phone them and tell them a friend of a friend was passing through town and seen it and would never go there for the above reasons. Maybe they would consider what they have done a little bit. Without race drivers there are no races let alone fans spending money.

When I was in the service most of the signs on base were done by whatever enlisted man they cd find to work in the engineers shop, but I dont recall ever seeing one that bad. All my life I've noticed that business of shoving the lettering as close to the borders as you can and have always been mystified by it. I try to get in the guy's mind and look at it like he does, but I cant. They never see a professional job done like that so where do they get the idea?

I know situation like this can be frustrating But guys, admit it...This sign is way better and more legible than 98% of the vynil and digital stuff we see nowadays, especially the wraps.
Dave your design is in the 2% though!
Life is so good!
